We were very excited to have dinner at Hunters and Gathers. We made a reservation several days ahead. The table we were sat at was right by the kitchen and the heaters that were keeping food warm made it so hot. My husband was sat where two benches met, so basically sat on a crack (pun intended). Ordered a bottle of wine that was warm (it was white), food took a long time despite not being very busy. No salt and pepper on table and it was need to add to the food. Overall...read full review

The food is exceptional! The chef harmonizes complex flavors and brings a degree of creativity that elevate each dish. When I travel, I make every effort to try local restaurants. We were so impressed with dinner that we returned for lunch the following day. I cannot recommend Hunters & Gatherers enough. Hands down DeLand’s best!

Hunters & Gatherers offers an unexpected and incredible dining experience. The restaurant has a warm, inviting, and intimate vibe, combining old DeLand with modern aspects into a comfortable, casual yet elevated space. The service is outstanding, super friendly, and engagingly courteous; the staff works as a gracious team, with not a single member walking by without checking on guests.
The menu is fun with many delicious options for all palates. All the food is freshly prepared, utterly delicious, satisfying, and unique. Mentioned dishes include the rangoon appetizer, crab cakes, ribeye, Chicken n' dumplings, and the Chicken Croque Monsieur. Favorite sides are the Caesar Brussels, smashed potatoes, Fried Smash Potatoes, Whipped Sweet Potato, and Carrots à L'Orange. The drinks are creative and well crafted, from delicious cocktails like the bourbon & corn juice and Chocolate Espresso Martini to Cold Pressed Juices. The experience is a pleasant surprise, leaving guests eager to return.
