“Wow just wow! Food was amazing and portions are enormous! My family of 4 usually shares a pancake and one other item such as the hot potatoes bowl or a savory crepe! If you want to change the protein in anything just ask! We do not eat pork and they accommodate us and even make our items on a clean grill and change their gloves! Not many places will do this! The owner is almost always there and he is cooking or making coffee. The entire staff is friendly and after just 3 visits remembered us and knew our coffee likes. He suggested the jerk chicken pasta which was very filling and tasted like a blend of Jerk spices and creamy pasta. I personally would’ve used chicken thighs for it instead of breast but the flavors made me forget the texture. Excellent service and lovely view.“

Maybe I am just being spiteful. I admit that. However, I went into this bar/restaurant because I was parked at the public beach parking next door and the meter could not accept credit card payments—it was broken. I asked if they could break a hundred dollar bill and they flat said no. She said they didn’t have it. The bar was packed. I find that hard to believe. She didn’t ask any of the servers or the manager. I realize it is a restaurant and not a bank but the interaction just felt discourteous. I worked in the service industry for years and it just was not personable. End rant lol. I will be at the beach all day but I will not be taking my family to this restaurant for lunch or dinner. Not today or ever. And I’m posting this review because that is the impact of a negative service interaction“

“Since I live in Ponce Inlet, I've been to Down the Hatch many times and have always found their seafood to be so fresh all the time. This time I had my sons visiting me from St. Louis, they wanted to eat at the best restaurant for seafood, and of course, we went right here and it didn't disappoint. They especially loved the shecrab soup with the sherry on the side. It was scrumptious. Their dinners were wonderful, as well as the desserts. Needless to say, we went home with plenty of leftovers. Steve, the server was great. All in all, it was a perfect night. So whether you live nearby or on vacation, make it a point to dine there.“
