“Finding the Freckled Fin on Anna Maria Island was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Florida. This is a lovely little pub and definitely a favorite of locals. Our bartender, Chris, greeted us warmly and made us feel at home as if he'd been serving us for years. The drink selection is outstanding and Chris is not stingy with his pours. The Irish rock music was loud, but not inappropriately so, just right to provide a raucous atmosphere but still allow for easy conversations all across the room. The food, almost all made in site, was wonderful.“

“Absolutely one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. This small, family-owned restaurant won my heart within seconds of walking through the door. My friends and I were visiting from out of town and happened to stumble upon this place while looking for somewhere to eat. We didn’t even realize until after being seated that we had arrived only about 30 minutes before closing. Not once did they make us feel rushed or like an inconvenience — quite the opposite. Pane e Amore is a truly authentic, family-owned Italian restaurant. The menu is simple yet unique, and every single thing we tried — from drinks to dessert — was incredible. We enjoyed the red blend wine, beer, and the pasta of the day: an Italian sausage spaghetti in a white sauce, made completely from scratch, right down to the noodles. It tasted like real Italian food and genuinely made us feel as though we were sitting in the heart of Italy. While our entrées were being prepared, we were served bruschetta that was crisp, light, and perfectly cooked — not overly hard like it often is elsewhere. We finished with a dessert that was equally light and delicious. The service was unmatched. Every interaction was genuine, heartfelt, and full of care. We were treated like family, and in the short time we were there, it felt like visiting relatives in Italy for the holidays. Five stars simply isn’t enough — this place deserves a ten. “I had a health concern happen while I was entertaining myself and the locals with some guitar music, good conversation and lots of pool games. I got dehydrated and the paranoia set in hard. Luckily these folks are good people and all my belongings were kept, safely. When I got well and was able to retrieve them. I was well cared for and never made to feel unwelcome though I’m afraid I might have made a fool of myself. Maybe again some day without the dehydration? I hope so!“

“Back Alley is my favorite shop at my favorite beach. Its usually an every day stop while we're staying on the island. The coffee is always fantastic and I find the best souvenirs there. I especially love drinking coffee from my Back Alley Insulated cup at home because it reminds me of my happy place when I cant be there. Today was a fantastic day because I got to visit Back Alley! It was our first time in since all the storm damage and the place looks even more beautiful than it did before!“

“We stopped by Pelican’s Snoballs in Bradenton and were pleasantly surprised! They have a huge variety of flavors to choose from, and the snoballs are soft, fluffy, and packed with that authentic New Orleans flavor. A perfect treat on a hot Florida day!

They’re currently running a great deal—$20 for 25 coins, and each coin is worth $1. It’s a fun and budget-friendly way to treat the whole family. In addition to snoballs, they also offer other frozen treats and ice cream options, so there’s something for everyone.

Parking is a little limited, but there’s a picnic area with shaded seating and yard games, which made the experience even more enjoyable for the kids. It’s a laid-back, family-friendly spot we’d definitely visit again!“

Meaghan, the owner, is friendly, accommodating, and a lovely person to chat with.
We have tried just about everything on their food menu, as well as sampled many of their wines. Everything we tried we loved!
We particularly enjoyed the Lola Pinot Noir. As we learned, Lola, is the label of her brother's vineyard in the Sonoma Valley.
Don't expect over-the-top service, expect excellent food, excellent wine, and excellent conversation.
Just love this place! Supporting local restauranteurs is so important. Keep the national chains from absorbing or forcing the mom and pops out.
