“Finding the Freckled Fin on Anna Maria Island was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Florida. This is a lovely little pub and definitely a favorite of locals. Our bartender, Chris, greeted us warmly and made us feel at home as if he'd been serving us for years. The drink selection is outstanding and Chris is not stingy with his pours. The Irish rock music was loud, but not inappropriately so, just right to provide a raucous atmosphere but still allow for easy conversations all across the room. The food, almost all made in site, was wonderful.“

“Absolutely one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. This small, family-owned restaurant won my heart within seconds of walking through the door. My friends and I were visiting from out of town and happened to stumble upon this place while looking for somewhere to eat. We didn’t even realize until after being seated that we had arrived only about 30 minutes before closing. Not once did they make us feel rushed or like an inconvenience — quite the opposite. Pane e Amore is a truly authentic, family-owned Italian restaurant. The menu is simple yet unique, and every single thing we tried — from drinks to dessert — was incredible. We enjoyed the red blend wine, beer, and the pasta of the day: an Italian sausage spaghetti in a white sauce, made completely from scratch, right down to the noodles. It tasted like real Italian food and genuinely made us feel as though we were sitting in the heart of Italy. While our entrées were being prepared, we were served bruschetta that was crisp, light, and perfectly cooked — not overly hard like it often is elsewhere. We finished with a dessert that was equally light and delicious. The service was unmatched. Every interaction was genuine, heartfelt, and full of care. We were treated like family, and in the short time we were there, it felt like visiting relatives in Italy for the holidays. Five stars simply isn’t enough — this place deserves a ten. I especially love drinking coffee from my Back Alley Insulated cup at home because it reminds me of my happy place when I cant be there. Today was a fantastic day because I got to visit Back Alley! It was our first time in since all the storm damage and the place looks even more beautiful than it did before!“

“We stopped by Pelican’s Snoballs in Bradenton and were pleasantly surprised! They have a huge variety of flavors to choose from, and the snoballs are soft, fluffy, and packed with that authentic New Orleans flavor. A perfect treat on a hot Florida day!

They’re currently running a great deal—$20 for 25 coins, and each coin is worth $1. It’s a fun and budget-friendly way to treat the whole family. In addition to snoballs, they also offer other frozen treats and ice cream options, so there’s something for everyone.

Parking is a little limited, but there’s a picnic area with shaded seating and yard games, which made the experience even more enjoyable for the kids. It’s a laid-back, family-friendly spot we’d definitely visit again!“

“We found this little coffee shop on our way to Myakka State Park. I don’t drink coffee, but my daughter does. The reviews were great so we stopped by. It’s super cute inside and they also have seating outside. There is also a water bowl outside, filled with water, for your furry friends if you brought them with you. We don’t remember what my daughter ordered, but she asked what they recommended for a first time visitor. She said it was really good. If you like coffee, give it a try and don’t forget to get your sticker if you collect them from different coffee shops like my kids do lol. Parking seemed a little challenging, as we found ourselves on the backside of the building in what seemed to be a hotel garage parking lot. But that might just be us, as we were unfamiliar with the area.“

“I celebrated my birthday at this quaint and unique space last month, and have been back several times since.
Meaghan, the owner, is friendly, accommodating, and a lovely person to chat with.
We have tried just about everything on their food menu, as well as sampled many of their wines. Everything we tried we loved!
We particularly enjoyed the Lola Pinot Noir. As we learned, Lola, is the label of her brother's vineyard in the Sonoma Valley.
Don't expect over-the-top service, expect excellent food, excellent wine, and excellent conversation.
Just love this place! Supporting local restauranteurs is so important. Keep the national chains from absorbing or forcing the mom and pops out.
