“Twisted Shrimp was delicious. Thomas (the waiter) was a hoot. My party of 4 all had something different. We also shared two desserts. It was all good. Indoor seating is limited. We ate outdoors and was visited by an Iguana in the tree. (sweet!) I recommend anything on the menu. Great place to eat!”

“Back in 2019 I had Islamorada Brewery send beer to NY during the cold winter. I was finally able to visit their location in person and it was worth the wait! Super friendly staff (didn’t get the bartender’s name in the beer garden), great beer and awesome food. Can’t be beat!”

“I don’t typically write reviews, but this restaurant is absolutely amazing. Every food item we ordered was extraordinary. The filet mignon croquettes are to die for. I ordered the brisket burger which was so delicious, and I was so happy to be able to order it rare. Which is rare to be able to order anything other than well done at a burger place. And my girlfriend ordered the wagyu burger which was also extremely delicious. You can also taste the quality of the fries, because that they’re cooked in the wagyu oil versus seed oils. The picanha tacos were so delicious with a perfect sauce on top. And the dessert, the dulce de leche filled churros were INSANE!!! Everything exceeded our expectations. We were on a drive down to the keys and didn’t think we’d find a quality restaurant but as soon as we saw the menu online we knew the restaurant would be amazing. Will definitely come back next time we’re in Florida. I usually never order burgers but the meat was such amazing quality. Can’t wait to try some steaks next time”

“Knowing it was the home of the original rum runner made it a hard one to pass on stopping. So glad we did. Grabbed some lunch as well. Coconut shrimp with the sauce to dip it into was delicious as well as the tuna we had. The original rum runner was delicious.
The scenery around there was amazing to just walk around if you want by the water. Plenty of seating and swings along the way.

“Omg the shrimp here was amazing! Great selection of beer too. I got the shrimp basket fried in piña colada batter, which gave it an awesome coconut flavor. It came with a side of my choice, so I went with the mac n’ cheese. Definitely not healthy, but honestly such a great dinner. My husband had the shrimp and grits, which were packed with amazing flavor.

The ambiance was laid-back and chill, which was perfect after a long day. Lots of great food options too!

The servers were so sweet and attentive. You could tell they had great teamwork and were all helping each other.

Overall, it’s such a fun spot with yummy food, and the prices were reasonable. Already dreaming about the fried shrimp!!! We also ordered the key lime pie with chocolate to go, and we’re excited to enjoy it as a snack later!”

“Yummy ice cream and shaved ice, and incredible customer service! It was a hot December day and Robbie’s and Charli’s Shave Ice was the perfect place to get a snack! Large menu, multiple sizes, fast service (especially when you have tons of people and only one person behind the bus). We have members in our party with celiac and when asked if anything was gluten free, for celiac, they answered and even offered to show us the tubs of ice cream and flavor bottles! There was a mix up on our end and when I reached out later, the owners were incredibly helpful and understanding. This is definitely a small business you should support! The owners are great, service is fast, prices are decent, location is great, snacks are yummy! This will be on our list for when we come back to the keys! Also don’t miss the key lime pie ice cream!”

“We loved our stay at Amara Cay over spring break! Will certainly be back. Fish Like a Local was an incredible experience at Amara Cay and Three Waters for our whole family! We have been to the keys several times participating in multiple fishing experiences on charters and off bridges and Patrick was by far the best guide we have ever had! He is so friendly, fun, informative and patient! We were fortunate enough to fish with him our first day and it was a hit. We made it a point to be sure we fished with him again prior to the end of our trip and will be sure to check him out the next time we are in the keys. Highly recommend!”

“We visited while on vacation. The first time we had the ice cream and some of the chocolates. The next day we returned and bought more ice cream, chocolates, and candy as souvenirs to take home to the kids. Everything was delicious and the service was great. Let’s get to the real crisis at hand: my husband’s coffee addiction. He’s basically a coffee narcissist—picky, dramatic, and completely incapable of functioning without a high-quality cup. So my first mission of the day? Find a place that serves coffee early in the morning.

I Googled, and a gas station café popped up. Reviews? Terrible. Service? Questionable. Vibes? Unclear. But I thought, why not? So I started my journey, walking in the morning heat, jamming to Michael Jackson, feeling the ocean breeze on one side and the Everglades air on the other. It was a moment.

About ten minutes into my walk, I spotted the gas station I had seen yesterday. Then, I noticed a sign: "Cuban Something." Oh boy. I had already read on Google that this place was awful, but I was already there, so… I took a deep breath and went in.

I did a quick scan—sized up the employees, checked for hot food (none, just pre-packed to-go items), and finally decided to try their coffee. I ordered one beef empanada and two croquetas de jamón because, you know, when in Miami… but in Key West !😂

María took my order, and another lady made the coffee. No "good morning," no smiles, but listen—this is not a five-star restaurant. Nobody is working for tips. It’s a get-your-essentials-and-go type of place. Honestly, I respect that.

Now, let’s talk about the Spanish situation. I love practicing my Spanish, but for some reason, when I speak it here, locals think I sound Mexican. Back in my home state? They swear I sound Colombian. My accent is apparently a mystery.

Would I recommend this place? If you want quick, no-nonsense Cuban coffee and snacks, yes. If you expect customer service that will hold your hand and whisper sweet nothings into your ear? Absolutely not.

Oh, and the bathroom? Didn’t see one. But I can guess why they don’t offer it freely to travelers. If you really need to use it, just offer some money—cash makes the world go 'round, and let’s be real, you’ll probably leave it cleaner than you found it.
Also to the side of the establishment there is a seating area . Treat the birds with respect
Final verdict? It’s a gas station kind of place . This should tell all , but it’s a gas station with Cuban coffee next door . That’s good enough for me.”

This time it was my son and myself, we had sashimi nigiri and a few rolls. Our favorite was the Kendall roll, which we chose by recommendation of the chefs, Thomas and Steven.
