“I was brought to this bar by a friend while I was visiting home from West Virginia, haven't been to Polk county in over 10 years and I must say after going to other bars in the area I was very happy to visit this one! It was so welcoming and just a good ol bar that brought me back to the days before the internet! Absolutely will have to come back ❤️“

“The bar tender, a little mouse of a man, was rude. Went out of his way to insure my draft was mostly foam! He even said he didn’t like me. Was a complete ass. Everything ven the other patrons noticed. Anyway I paid my bill and even tipped the little basterd!“

“I lived in Lake Wales for over twenty years and I love Al’s Place the friendliest bar in town, remind me of the old tv show “Cheers “ when everyone knows your name. The beer is cold, the food delicious and they give you plenty. On your first trip there you will get initiated with the yardstick and become a member of the family group. My son and daughter got me back in Pennsylvania as I age to see that I have proper care, but promise me every so often the would bring me back to Lake Wales to visit all my old friend. Looking forward to February at when they celebrate the the holiday Mardi Gras and have a great time with all my old friends…..It’s a pleasure…Thank You.“

“Always do a great job when they have steamed crabs. I got a dozen today. All larges and very heavy. It was a taste from home. Pitt Beef was good as well. Only thing missing is a snow ball.“

“We had a reservation for 5:30. We had to wait 15 minutes fir a table. (Why take reservations?) We ordered a bottle of wine from the wine list, the server did not recognize it. The bartender, trying to be a sommelier, came to our table to tell us they didn't have that bottle. I picked another. when she served, rather than pouring an ounce or two for tasting, filled both glasses. I'm glad we liked the wine. The entrees were both very good. My wife and I made it an enjoyable meal. The staff needs better training.“

“Ever since my wife and I found this gem we look forward to visiting The Crooked Bass every weekend! The food is always great and the staff has always been polite, attentive and fast!! Only thing (and it’s a small thing) is maybe better live music outdoors or a juke box for when there is no live music! All in all we love it and will keep coming back every weekend!!!“

This is a self-serve tap room allowing you to pour a sample or a full glass, the choice is yours. The food options are prepared on sight and come out piping hot each time. “Great lounge to have a bite and a drink. Honestly, I only have been here on the weekends. On Friday and Saturday nights, it's always a great time. You typically find a puerto rican crowd with a blend of island music played by the DJ that is from a popular radio station. They have a good dance floor, a pool table and they host pay per view fights and sports on their dollar not charging a dime. This is a very underrated place. Prices are great as well and the food is actually very good, love the alcapurrias. Hoy se bebeee.“

“This place was great. Speaking as a foodie with young kids, the food exceeded expectations. We were able to enjoy two reasonably priced cocktails and three courses of food while our kids played in the nearby castle, sat through a live show, and jumped on beanbags at the Lego theater. Our server was also fantastic.“

We had Braxton as our server and he was an absolute rockstar. Fast, prompt, and charming! He did a great job, and our table was very well taken care of.
