“Wonderful casual family-owned sushi/hibachi restaurant in the heart of St Pete! We made a reservation through Google and our table for 10 was ready when we arrived. The owner and his son Khoi were so welcoming and attentive. We tried a huge variety of sushi, salads, seared tuna, and hibachi entrées. All were absolutely delicious with very generous portions and reasonable prices. Tons of gluten-free and vegetarian options and the ginger salad dressing was so good I brought home my leftovers! Highly recommend for carryout or dine in and look forward to returning again soon. Loved Mr. sushi!!!“

“We order sushi from umai a lot. Especially Christmas eve. We do the 7 fishes, and every year a large platter of sushi is a part of it. Umai has filled our Christmas eve order for years! We love them year round as well. In addition to fantastic sushi, they have a variety of entrees. The Hibachi combos are very good, and their soups are fantastic! You really can't go wrong with Umai Cafe.“

Goz and Roli are going to make you one of the absolute best meals you will have while your here, thats if your really into asian cusine, and super fresh, hand picked, delicious, organized sushi. “Pretty Good We’ve been here for to-go orders in the past. I have lower expectations for to-go since the food is never as hot and fresh as at the restaurant. This time we ate in the restaurant. The restaurant is clean and bright and the service is good. We started with the Bao Bun sampler which was delicious. We moved on to the appetizer sampler. The chicken wings and spring rolls were pretty good. The shrimp and Crab Rangoon were only OK and I wouldn’t get them again. Moving on, the Spot Special Banh Mi was very good. The Eye Round Pho was only OK and had a thin flavor. The Chicken Stir Fry with Vegetables was pretty good with a nice flavor, but the chicken had an overly-tenderized and spongy consistency. So, it was hit and miss. I would go back for the Bao Buns and the Banh Mi.“
