“My first visit was today for my birthday and Ed was our waiter! He was wonderful! The food was top notch and views were amazing! We’ll be back with friends! I had the shrimp tacos! Very good!“

“Since I live in Ponce Inlet, I've been to Down the Hatch many times and have always found their seafood to be so fresh all the time. This time I had my sons visiting me from St. Louis, they wanted to eat at the best restaurant for seafood, and of course, we went right here and it didn't disappoint. They especially loved the shecrab soup with the sherry on the side. It was scrumptious. Their dinners were wonderful, as well as the desserts. Needless to say, we went home with plenty of leftovers. Steve, the server was great. All in all, it was a perfect night. So whether you live nearby or on vacation, make it a point to dine there.“

“Unfortunately our visit this time (we come about once per month) was subpar. The good stuff - food was excellent and our server was good. Bad stuff - we had a reservation but were made to wait 20 minutes. Your front staff seemed flustered. I have to assume the folks at the table that was promised to us stayed longer than they should have? Maybe you put folks there earlier with no reservation? That’s unclear. But what is clear is that the ability to make a reservation so we don’t have to wait keeps us coming to Sonapa. So it was a let down. I think better management of reserved tables is needed and if you seat someone without reservations at a table that is reserved for 5:45, let the party know they need to vacate by then.“

“We’ve been a Big fan of Big Joes for over 10 years. Often the 1st place I choose when arriving in Florida; however, this last visit was just not the same. The little lady who was formerly the “waitress” was lovely, polite and efficient. I always left her seperate tips. This new woman is RUDE…and when I said so, she came to our table and loudly challenged me for “cussing her out”. I said you were RUDE and she was! Perhaps were she to do her job properly and State the NUMBER (as they’re given out when orders are placed), there would have been No problem). She Failed to do that, then felt a need to lecture US about it. There were 2 seperate numbers and parties @ our table..,we ALL witnessed her inappropriate behavior.
I am very sorry to say Big Joes may have just lost 3 excellent customers.
I will say TY to the guy who takes the orders for coming over and for himself delivering our food as I requested She not touch it.

“We come several times per year when visiting my folks who live in Ormond. The food is good, staff is fantastic, and the beer selection is second to none in the area. The only thing I'd like to see is glasses as opposed to plastic cups for your fantastic beer. Looking forward to our next visit.“

“We were in Daytona Beach for vacation and staying at the Wndym Ocean Walk Resort. Starlite Diner was within walking distance so we decided to try it. “Great good on Easter Sunday. Problem:,pieces of paper on the floor (at least 5 and one larger crumpled up piece) and none of the waitresses, or the help, would stop to pick them up. Also my Cabernet had so much sediment in the bottom it left a huge skid mark up the side of the glass. Seems like a change in managers or increased training.“

“Abel was AMAZING. My fiancé Anela didn’t realize the beans and fries came inside her burrito and was a little disappointed because she’s not a fan of soggy fries. We honestly never send food back, but Abel handled it so well. He immediately took it back, had a fresh burrito made for her, and was so pleasant about the whole thing.

On top of that, we ordered a small guac and accidentally got the large guac salad — he fixed that right away too and brought us exactly what we wanted without making it awkward at all.

Customer service like that goes a long way. Super kind, professional, and the food was great too. We’ll definitely be back.“
