“The decor is very cute & enjoyed seeing popular characters from Toho monsters to Miyazaki characters in the art on the banners & the walls. We shared some snacks like Ikageso Karaage (fried squid tentacles) and the Mentaiko Fries. The street corn is very delicious. I tried the Kimchi Cream Udon with Tofu & loved it. 😍

The owner brought us a special off menu item, jalapeño crab popper topped with spicy mayo sauce. Talk about flavortown… We also tried the bang bang shrimp, also off the chart good. The portion size of all items was plentiful. The prices are also fantastic. We have found our new sushi restaurant.“

“We order sushi from umai a lot. Especially Christmas eve. We do the 7 fishes, and every year a large platter of sushi is a part of it. Umai has filled our Christmas eve order for years! We love them year round as well. In addition to fantastic sushi, they have a variety of entrees. The Hibachi combos are very good, and their soups are fantastic! You really can't go wrong with Umai Cafe.“

“A Nice Sushi Roll for Lunch.

Walking the mall with my mother and we decided to have a quick bite to eat before going to a movie, she wanted Asian so Sarku Japan was it.

She got some kind of chicken, but I went with a Tempura Shrimp Sushi Roll. Was affordable, came out pretty fast, and looked great.

Came with a side of fresh ginger and some very fresh wasabi, the sushi itself was excellent. No complaints. Light, satisfying, and a perfect choice for a quick meal before a much bigger one hours later.“

“What an experience from the bar staff who offered drinks while we waited to our waiter Rachel what an experience. The food was Asian Peruvian we started with he shrimp wow the were lightly battered perfectly cooked and crispy and then our mains we had the Grouper dish and the Lomo saltado with a side of white rice by far the best Grouper dish and Lomo saltado I have ever had and with reason the previous chef was Peruvian and developed the dish. The desert was a tart and it was amazing highly recommend and the view is the icing on the cake. Will definitely make a trip back to Tampa for this restaurant and berns as well. 10/10 recommend“

“While taking a break from U of Tampa move in weekend, we were looking for a place to eat after some shopping. Kelp came up. It was a lot an hour before they closed. Staff was very friendly and kind. Our server answered all of our questions and made accommodations when we asked. Good was delicious. Such a great selection of unique rolls. They put their own touch into their menu.

We will definitely return.“
