“Great little dive spot...one of those places where you're celebrated as you walk in the door. Staff were extremely friendly and inviting, place was clean and all the patrons seemed to know one another so made you feel very welcomed and like you were a regular straight away.“

“Though The Muddy Root’s menu is already hard to beat, the real magic lies in the staff here. It doesn’t matter what day you come in; you’ll always be met by someone warm, welcoming, and ready to explain anything you’d like to know about their WIDE variety of menu items. If you’re not a kava or kratom person, this cafe offers a coffee and tea menu that’s highly customizable. Whatever you’re looking for- something sweet, something strong, something refreshing- the kavatenders (their “bartenders”) will always know how to make it happen. Even when my drink doesn’t taste right the first time (which rarely happens), the staff is beyond happy to add or substitute anything so that it’s just what I want. A literal 2-minute drive from UCF (and right between two major UCF apartments), this is an amazing study spot. Plenty of outlets and a variety of seating, plus free WiFi (after ordering). Plenty of students, professionals, and hobbyists work here, so it’s a productive environment. If you’re looking for a more social atmosphere, they also host social events all throughout the month, from trivia and AYCD kava nights to karaoke and even nature hikes! If I could rate The Muddy Root on a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give them an 11. A definite must-try!“

“I came here one evening after work with some coworkers. We wanted a nice, chill pub atmosphere with some good food. We found that here at St. Andrews. Ambiance was great. Seat yourself, a little schlubby building with only a few, dark windows. I loved it. Felt like real Britain. Service was good. The guy was super nice, and the food all came out timely and hot. No worries there.

I was also super impressed and pleased that they had a Guinness 0.0 available in a can. I've been told it's nothing like the real thing, but I thought it was pretty darn good.

As for the food, it was dynamite.

Started off with a simple Chips & Curry Sauce. Very nicely fried fries with a heaping helping of a thick curry sauce. A very mild sauce that was good on pretty much anything. I finished the fries and kept the sauce around for subsequent courses.

I then had a Sausage Roll & Crisps. The roll was great. Super flakey pastry enveloped a very nice, well-seasoned sausage that had a good snap to it with every bite. Delicious.

Then, my main event, a Home-Made Meat Pie (Steak & Mushroom, Served with Chips and Garden Peas). Check the picture. It wasn't a pie pie like I was expecting, but the filling was really deep and umami in the way only steak and mushroom can be. The pastry was, again, really good, and I subbed the chips for onion rings, and they were crispy and dipped really well in that curry sauce.

Overall, this was a nice, simple, delicious experience that did a good job bringing us coworkers together for some good camaraderie.“

We had a variety of appetizers to start: pork gyoza, spicy shrimp tempura, edamame, and curry rice croquettes. Sorry no photos, they were too delicious to stop for a photo. They disappeared quite quickly. Yum! Arianna was super knowledgeable and friendly and guided these newbies through the Ramen choices.“

The white Russian was unlike any other white Russian I’ve ever had. Days later, we are still talking about it and can’t wait to go back for another. We planned on having just one cocktail and ended up staying for a second because they were so delicious. The bartenders were friendly, the bar was clean and so was the bathroom. I see a lot of reviews complaining about the noise. Yes, the music was fairly loud, but we could definitely still hear each other talk and it didn’t bother us at all. “Highly recommend for family gatherings! We just had our Baby Shower in their event space & we had an amazing time. All the staff was super friendly, very accommodating and easy to work with & book. The food and drinks were delicious and fast. Our host/waitress was so sweet and fun and great about interacting with everyone at the shower. The kids present were very happy to feed the gators, visit the parrots, and pretty much wander around in between the games. I cannot recommend their services enough and I am beyond happy we chose here for our baby shower.“

Open air so smoking is okay if that's your thing. Your drink strength correlates directly to how good of a conversation you can give the bartender.

🍸: I ordered a whiskey sour but got a Jack and Coke from a tipsy bartender on this day. The drink was... okay. But the memory will last a lifetime.
