“My dad and I ate here yesterday! He recommended it. It was very good. I like that you can choose between pizza, sandwiches, and/or salads and soup. I had the Supreme Pizza and Greek Salad combo. My food was great. Dad had the Chicken Salad sandwich and Loaded Potato soup. He said the sandwich was good, but needed a little more seasoning. He practically licked the bowl from the soup. Unfortunately this seems to be the trend right now with restaurants. The french fries were okay they were Applebee's fries

Let me set the scene for you.

The heart of an old downtown in the crux of revival. The bottom corner of a historically renown building that prior to it's current incarnation was often a Hollywood set. Literally. Marvel even filmed here. Inside of what was once Earth-616 is now a family run, floor to ceiling glass windowed, community culinary dream of from scratch pasta dishes and sandwiches that even your Nonna would have to approve of. A jazz ambience, which I normally find redundant and cringy but somehow doesn't just work here but belongs, gives you the subtle and much needed reminder to slow down.

There is no hurry here. There is no worry here. There are just literal rays of sunshine comfortably warming you through the glass while the food, my personal favorite being the "Roasted Mushroom Trenne", brings you back to a place you probably haven't been to in a while but you remember somehow once existed. It's a place of safety where nothing matters but the next bite. We've all been there. Those of us, the ineffably blessed ones, recognize this core memory from Sunday dinners at our Grandparent's house.

That's what this place is. It's THAT feeling.

Maybe you're reading this and thinking, "I have no idea what you're talking about. I never experienced anything like that growing up." Maybe you're Gen X and your core memories feel more like the lining of an eroded metal ash tray with a flip top in the back of a seatbeltless Pontiac and a mouthful of water from the hose of some random neighbor kid's yard. That's cool, too. This place has you covered. May I recommend the "No Reservations'? It's a Mortadella, the greatest of all Italian sandwiches. It's full of sausage, cheese, a fried egg and zero nonsense. Kind of like you.

See? This is a place for everyone. This place works not because of the social media worthy pics you could get of your food but because when you are here you forget about the hell hole that is social media. You don't need likes, you don't need followers. You just need to sit down, put the phone away and let life happen. And here, you will.

At POPS they aren't just offering food. They're offering community. The real deal. The food is outrageously solid. The service is unique and clearly honed from years of experience of working the front end of restaurants. Even if you don't run into a neighbor here, and I'm soo sure you will I can almost guarantee it (insert the voice of Justin Wilson here), you WILL know someone here because this place knows you. This place is invested in it's patrons. They don't forget a single one. They treat everyone like they are the reason they opened up shop. Everyone is the Shelley Long to their Woody Harrelson. Here, they really do know your name.

This place isn't a picture of it's food. It isn't pasta sheepishly buffered by truffle oil and the jazz Muzak station. This place is just what it set out to be, the culinary heart of a community.

Go eat at POPS. Order anything. Put the phone away. Slow down. Say "Hi' to a neighbor. Eat with gusto. Live with gusto. You belong here.

“We ate at Hickory Flat Kitchen tonight on their patio and enjoyed a quiet meal. The salmon BLT and the maple bourbon chicken were both tasty. Our server, Savannah, is a delight. The overall experience was lovely and a refreshing change from sports bars and noise.“

“Our go to family pizza place. Wait staff is courteous and reliable. Food is fantastic. Our family of 4 always gets a half cheese half pepperoni and an appetizer or two. If you haven't tried their onion rings with their special Alfredo dippo sauce, stop what you're doing and go do that. Amazing!“

“Fun place. Know what to expect. This is nothing fancy. It's a step above bar food. Service is friendly. We usually sit on the porch to watch everything happening on the lake.

Little pricier than typical bar food but you are paying for the location. Kitchen could be a little more precise (frequently missing things or items are prepared differently one time to another) but again, it's nothing fancy.

We go now for the atmosphere, view, and music. Usually something happening, especially on the weekends.

“We just had the best experience at Taco Mac! When we first walked in we saw someone who wasn't really ok with waiting for a table and he was incredibly rude to the manager and the manager handled it like the professional he is. We were seated at our table and had the best service. There was a slight issue with one of our meals and the manager came over, before we even knew there was an issue, and explained the situation. He did everything to make sure we were happy and checked on us several times just to make sure. It was absolutely amazing and we will definitely be back. It helps to remember that people in the service industry can only do their jobs to the best of their ability and being rude to the staff or anyone, doesn't make them do things quicker or the way you want. “The Canton Icehouse is a TOP NOTCH bar and music venue! The staff is amazing. You feel very safe with the exception security team. The food and drinks are excellent!! The live music is always a step above the rest. I can’t say enough about how great Canton Icehouse is! You have to be there to experience it , so make plans to go and have a great time!“

“Went in for a simple pancake and a chicken hash brown bowl to go, which were delicious and the service/friendliness of the staff was impecable.

Vegetarian options: A lot of menu items include meat, but things like pancakes and waffles don't.“

Was surprised with the length of time it took for our food to come and when it did, my daughter recieved an order that was for the table next to us and then had to wait on her order. Our booth was uncomfortable and in need of a restuffing. The pancakes were not as good at this location, as at others.“

“I live close to this Shane's and have gone there quite frequently since they opened. I've never had a bad meal. I prefer the ribs, chopped pork or tenders. Ask for your fries to be well done and they are fresh, hot and crispy. Peach cobbler is excellent also.“

“I was in the mood for a fish sandwich and decided to stop at this location. Ran through the drive-thru. I ordered the spicy giant fish sandwich, side of fries, and extra tarter sauce. This sandwich was massive. I do have a good spice tolerance, so this sandwich wasn't spicy for me, but I could tell there was some spice. It was so big that I ended up taking off one of the pieces of fish, splitting it in half, and putting it on my sandwich. All and all, no complaints, good sandwich for the price.“
