The Vandiver Reviews
Beautiful restaurant, with courteous and attentive staff. Food was perfectly prepared, and my wife’s cocktail was sublime. Highly recommend.
As good as it gets. Absolute perfection. Save room for desserts to share. Highly trained professionals. Will book future trips to the hotel solely to eat here again.
We had a fantastic dinner at The Vandiver when visiting from out of town, and would highly recommend! All three people in our party thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the presentation. Our server was wonderful and knowledgeable, and the restaurant itself is beautiful with a nice ambiance. I will definitely be back!

The Vandiver is a restaurant offering a refined and purposeful menu in an atmosphere that strikes a perfect balance of upscale and casual. The space is tastefully renovated, comfortable, and features a very nice bar area that opens at 4pm, separate from the dining area where the kitchen opens at 5pm. Reviews consistently describe the service as impeccable, outstanding, excellent, attentive, knowledgeable, kind, communicative, and fun.
The food is delicious with excellent presentation. Notable dishes include the duck with a blackberry gastrique and kale-brussel hybrid, a marinated Steak Frites, and moist salmon. The bacon pea risotto is described as amazing and very filling. Other praised items are the shrimp and grits, trout, burger and fries, scallops with quinoa, mushrooms and grilled asparagus, and the kale Caesar salad. For appetizers, the fried green tomatoes and crab cake are outstanding. The restaurant offers many gluten-free options, including an apple pear sorbet noted as the best ever. Desserts are highly recommended, particularly the Mousse Cake and the peach cobbler cheesecake. The bar serves interesting cocktails and has an approachable wine program. While the food receives widespread acclaim, a few minor notes suggest the bread service and coffee could be improved. The Vandiver is a welcome addition to Clayton, providing a wonderful dining experience that compels guests to return.
