“We visited here Sunday for the very first time to try the oxtail quesadilla we saw posted on Instagram. My husband did not want to wait, so we bought the oxtail pasta instead. The oxtail pasta was VERY TASTY. It was flavored very well. I wish I could have had a couple of more pieces of meat, but otherwise, it was DELICIOUS. I only gave a four star rating since I did not get to try the oxtail quesadilla. AND, I did not find the music (explicit) was appropriate, especially on a Sunday. But if all the food is going to be seasoned as well as that oxtail pasta, you can't go wrong. I will definitely go back to try the oxtail quesadilla!“
“I sadly came in at the end but I still received great service and the owner was a true gentleman upon me leaving. I will happily honor him asking to leave a nice review as I got home and tore my oxtails, white rice and cabbage up. I could not have asked for a better meal to end my day. “Saturday for lunch:We had the oxtail stew, cabbage, Mac & cheese, red beans and rice, jerk chicken, and jerk chicken eggrolls, and plantains! Hands down the best of it all was the jerk chicken followed closely by the oxtail stew.There were only 2 dishes we didn't enjoy. The cabbage tasted a little dirty and the plantains came out cold and didn't really taste like what we were expecting.Would we go here again ,yes! We actually came back the next day to get some oxtail and jerk chicken for the road.The atmosphere:music playing at a reasonable tone and multiple tvs for your viewing pleasure. At the time only a few guest were inside so it wasn't to crowded. It was clean and honestly looks like they scaled up a bit.“

“Growing up my parents had this saying, “Food so good, makes you wanna slap somebody.” This food had me wanting to slap someone. I had a combo plate with goat, oxtail, Mac & cheese (this almost left me in tears), rice & peas and plantains. Everything and I mean everything was incredible. Generous portions, I have enough for a whole second meal tomorrow. The oxtail was meaty and flavorful. The goat was tender and juicy. Super impressed with the flavor and seasoning. Whoever is back there cooking isn’t just doing a job, they’re passionate about food. The lady at the window was very kind and friendly. It was almost their closing time and I’m sure they were tired after working hours all day. But you couldn’t tell with how much they put into the food and the friendly greeting. The food isn’t cheap but keep in mind, this isn’t McDonalds. Plus, their portions are huge and one plate could feed two people or be leftovers. So it’s actually a very good value. Love this place and will definitely be back.Vegetarian options: They have fish which some vegetarians are comfortable with. They have vegetarian patties (spinach & cheese) plus many veterinary sides.Parking: Easy to park. It’s in a shopping plaza with ample parking.“
“I've been going to Contreju since about 2016. I don't know what the hell these people with these low reviews are talking about. This food is outstanding! I don't know what's wrong with these people's pallets. They obviously don't know good food when they taste it. This food has so much flavor. If I could eat it every day, I would. And the owner is so sweet. She greets me every time I come, and ask me how I'm doing. I would say the people that are saying they are rude, have no respect for their elders. I stand by Contreju. “I came looking into this complex for another restaurant but saw theirs at the corner when I turned in; decided to go get a menu because I’m in the area a lot, and they didn’t have any but I still took a picture of the lunch special for later when I could afford a fresh plate. The smell of the food was too good so I went for it, and I’m happy I did because the food was fresh & fall off the bone, not stingy at all with the portions. So glad I decided to go here, definitely will be back“

“We finally had the opportunity to try out this restaurant! And it was well worth the wait We ordered the oxtail (well seasoned and cooked to perfection) with rice and peas (the peas were this yummy looking pea that resembled a black eye pea). The plantains were delicious. Can't speak on the cabbage because I don't like cabbage and cabbage doesn't like me !!! The owner/chef named Cherlynn (hopefully that's how she spells her name) was friendly and informative. She told us her food is organic and she gets her meats from a farm in Tennessee (aka farm to table)!! We wanted to try the red snapper, however it's cooked to order (from cleaning to seasoning and preparation)....so remember to call ahead. As for the meat patties they were gone also....so I'll call ahead the next time I return (again and again as long as she chooses to be here)!!! Sorry no pics we devoured the food as soon as we got home!!“
