Downtown Grill is a cozy restaurant that offers an enjoyable dining experience. The staff is attentive and helpful, with servers like Sarah and Jordan going the extra mile to ensure customers have a great time. The warm and soft complementary bread and butter add to the inviting atmosphere.
The menu features a variety of delicious dishes, including an off-menu appetizer described as a "grit pancake type thing topped by 3 blackened shrimp covered with a cajun andouille sauce." Standout entrees include dry aged ribeye, surf and turf, blackened scallops with grit soufflé and penne marinara, and chicken marsala with grilled asparagus and sautéed green beans. While there was a minor issue with the temperature of a steak order, the other dishes were praised for their excellent flavor and depth. The restaurant also offers a beautiful bar with a wide selection of drinks and a great wine list, adding to the cozy and intimate ambiance.
However, there was a slight disappointment with the shrimp cocktail, as the shrimp were found to be overcooked and chewy. Finding the restaurant can be tricky using GPS because it’s located down an alley, noted by the "Lane" in the address. Despite this, the service for large parties is commendable, and valet parking is available. Downtown Grill is highly recommended for special occasions and gatherings, making it a worthwhile visit in every aspect.
