The Rookery Reviews
Second time driving from Henry Co just to eat at The Rookery! Totally worth the 1 hour drive! Some of our favorites are the Solid Gold Soul Rolls and the Jimmy Carter. We tried the Fried Mushrooms, the Big O, the Onion Rings, and the Chicken Tenders on this visit. 10/10 recommend!
I was recently in the Macon area on business with a colleague and it was recommended that we go downtown to The Rookery. I had a great experience, and a big part of that was thanks to our waiter, Travis. From the moment we sat down, he was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing.
Travis had a strong command of the menu—offering thoughtful recommendations and answering questions with confidence—which made the whole experience feel...read full review
We are visiting Macon and we receive a recommendation to eat at that establishment. We ordered 2 entrees, unfortunately the chicken chèvre had a long hair inside the chicken.
The manager came and checked the plate and saw the hair but she didn’t care and barely apologize and left.
Of course they didn’t charge for that but she didn’t offered any other option.
It was evident to us that the manager had poor customer service skills in handling the entire situation!

Based on these reviews, The Rookery is a restaurant in Macon, GA, known for its incredible food. The burgers are delicious, and the French dip is one of the top three favorite sandwiches of all time. Other menu highlights include the catfish sandwich special, pot roast like someone's grandmother made it, and the fish and chips, which have just the right amount of batter and are served hot. The chicken egg roll appetizer may be the best ever, and the fried mushrooms are always on point. The milkshake is amazing.
The service is top notch, with staff who are really nice, polite, and efficient. The manager is super funny and helpful. The bartender is amazing and tells guests history of Macon. While there can be a wait for fresh food during lunch rush, the food is absolutely incredible and worth it. The restaurant has a good beer selection and other drinks. Guests will definitely be back when in the area.
