“Staff was friendly and food was great”

“We enjoy the Winder location for dinner and Sunday brunch and decided to try the Monroe location. We were looking forward to a nice evening out, but due to the service we won't be back to Monroe. The food was good, when we finally received it. We had a reservation and once we were seated, we waited 20 minutes for our server to come and greet us and ask for our drink order. No one came over until I went to the front counter to ask who our server was. The food arrived an hour after being seated. The atmosphere was loud and crowded. I much prefer the Winder location and we will only be going back there in the future.”

“Awesome, delicious, friendly service, and nearby! The best Shrimp Boil we have had in many years. The shrimp was good size, tender (not overcooked), sausage, potatoes and corn were perfect with the best seasoning ever. The juice was outstanding. The boiled egg was a surprise, must be a regional dish for Mal, but oh so good! Us southerns usually have our eggs deviled, but I have a new favorite! We support our new business in Monroe. The price is worth it when you are served food this good! Check it out!”

“Breakfast is a fabulous meal at this quiet (?) little cafe! My husband is here every week for a pancake, buttered. The pancakes are huge, taking up the entire plate!! I’ve tried several things on their menu and it’s all been very good! This is where the locals come - but come early. It fills up fast!”

“Madison was a true pleasure to work with in every way. Blue Rooster is our favorite bakery! We have been returning to this place for over two years now, trying new flavors and delectable treats, and we have never been disappointed. So, when we decided to have our wedding, we knew that there could be no better place than Blue Rooster to meet our needs. We contacted Blue Rooster to schedule a cake tasting for my upcoming wedding. The process was seamless, and we encountered no issues. Madison contacted us via email and requested some information from us. She promptly booked us for the tasting. We met at the Monroe location, which was charming, and Madison arrived on time and fully prepared. She actively listened to our ideas and drew exactly what we described on paper. We were impressed with her exceptional attention to detail. Her expertise, informative responses, and confidence helped alleviate our anxiety and put our minds at ease. On the day of the wedding, Madison arrived on time and well prepared. She completely decorated the cake table as promised and everyone was impressed by her work! The wedding cake that Madison produced was an exact replica of what she had drawn on paper. Not a single detail was missing, and it was so beautiful that it left everyone saying "WOW"! We had ordered large cupcakes for the guests, and they were both beautiful and delicious. The cakes blew us away, and they tasted even better than we expected. You could really taste the freshness! For our spring wedding, we picked six flavors of cupcakes - strawberry, key lime, lemon pound, banana pudding, Oreo, and Italian cream. Our guests enjoyed Old Fashioned Strawberry, Oreo, and Key Lime Pie cupcakes the most. The Lemon Pound and Banana Pudding cupcakes were also popular among them. We had ordered an excess of cupcakes, so our guests went back for seconds and even thirds! By the end of the night, only 20 cupcakes were left - all of them Banana Pudding and Italian Cream. We gave some cupcakes as gifts to our vendors and took some home. It was a happy ending to a wonderful wedding celebration! After the ceremony, we asked some guests which flavors they enjoyed the most. The Old Fashioned Strawberry was the clear winner, followed by Key Lime. My personal favorite was Italian Cream, while the Groom's favorite was Oreo. The vendors said their families devoured the cupcakes they brought home and everyone kept asking, "Where did you order these cupcakes from?" We were proud to announce that we got them from our favorite bakery in Monroe, GA. Every guest got to enjoy their favorite flavor and try something new, and nobody was disappointed. We had an amazing experience working with Blue Rooster and Madison. They helped us bring our cake visions to life and we couldn't be happier. We have always loved them and still do. If you're looking for a bakery for your special event, trust me, you can't go wrong with Blue Rooster. They have a lot to offer and the skills to make your vision a reality. Thank me later! Dog walking aound on the bar was a little off-putting, (I know they're "family" but really...would you let your toddler walk around ON THE BAR) but overall a great place. Young gal behind the bar was great and a sweetheart (I hate no name tags and when you run a tab, no reciept). God bless ya!”

“The food was great and so was the atmosphere. But the one boy who brought out food had a look that we offened him that one of the burgers got sent back because the burger and the cheese was burnt to a crisp. He looked at us that we should eat in any way.”

“Being my first time there, Dee and the beautiful staff ar Rise Up cafe are the best when it comes to service and quality of food. The space is clean and well organized. I ordered the biscuits with bacon, everything was fresh, and is a true testament on the focus Rise Up Cafe has regarding locally produce ingredients.

“Was going to get a haircut and thought I would try a new place for lunch. When I walked in, I told the young lady at the register that it was my first time, but I'd like to order takeout. She was kind enough to walk me though their menu and sizes and even offer some recommendations to try. I ended up selecting the chicken hibachi and a side of egg rolls. When I got home 30 minutes later, I pulled out my food, not knowing what to expect. I can be pretty picky about my egg roles and chicken hibachi at places. I tried an egg roll first and to my delight they were still hot and delicious (some of the best I've had at a takeout place). The chicken hibachi was a huge portion. It was so much food that I had to dump it into a Tupperware container just to mix it up. I hesitantly tried their yum yum sauce, but it was also very good. I added in a little extra soy sauce and mixed and I was blown away by how good it was. There is only one other takeout place that rivals the food in my opinion, and that's inoko express, though sadly we don't have one in Monroe. This will absolutely be my new Japanese take out spot in the future!”

“Captain Ds in Monroe never disappoints. Employees are always friendly and professional, food is always fresh and never cold, and bathrooms are always clean as well as the dining area. Highly recommend eating here. If I could afford it, I would have dinner here at least four nights a week.”

“Pros: They have really good food. They are friendly, fast and the food is plentiful for the price. It's affordable. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Cons: you don't have much room to park around the restaurant so it can be annoying when they are packed but if there is room to pull in then I suggest you do that.

Support them. They deserve it!

Parking: The condition of the parking lot is just terrible. Use caution when pulling in. That is not a real negative though because if you are cautious you won't damage your car.”

“Hard to judge atmosphere with a take out only restaurant. Food is always good, it's a great Bang for Buck. I can order 1 meal and eat it at least twice. It's awesome. The family that runs it, is always lovely and happy to be there.”

The lunch speacial includes a drink, soup and an egg roll with your meal. It is definitely enough food for a few more meals.”

“Very clean, new location. Run of the mill JM decor. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Prices are ridiculously high. Meager (regular), squished cheesesteak compared to the pub sub version, go pub sub.

“I've been here probably half a dozen times now. I love the food, the wings are well done and all the sauces are great. I'm a fan of the Biffs Sweet and Jalapeño Ranch. I've had friends have the flat bread, pretzel, tacos, cheese curds, fries, just about everything. And always happy with the food! The service is fair, I don't see the same face often so I assume that the staff is newer.

We did take out once, that was a mistake. The food took an extra 35 minutes, the food wasn't as coated in sauce, and all just thrown together. Still tasted great but not timely. And the staff seem annoyed that I was there (easily could have just been a stressful Friday night)
