For the price and atmosphere of the place I think it deserves more attention. The service here is good but it may take a bit to actually get food. For the price paid the food is good and overall good experience. Would definitely recommend for a small gathering or family dinner.
My husband lived in Statesboro when he attended Georgia Southern University. When we visited Statesboro in September, he wanted to go down memory lane and one of those trips was to El Sombrero or "El Som." His parents were also in town visiting, so we all decided to have dinner at El Som on our first night. It was a Thursday night and the restaurant was quite busy. My mom and I were doing errands a few weeks ago and decided to stop at El Sombrero for lunch. She opted for the chicken soup and said it was the best chicken soup she’s ever had at a Mexican restaurant. It’s a dish she had ordered at least once at every Mexican restaurant we’ve been to. Today she was craving the soup so we made the trip to Statesboro just so she could have it. She said it hit the spot and once again it was delicious!
