“All the reviews are focusing on the fruit and smoothies, so I want to address the coffee. When I first arrived on the Big Island, I was skeptical of 100% Kona because of the price. But after reading about it, I wanted to try it. I bought a bag of the Fruit Stand dark roast, and they were kind enough to grind it for me. Got home and brewed a few cups in a mediocre coffee pot. Let me say, it is worth 1000% of the price! Oh man it is delicious. I even left two cups out in the carafe and reheated it in the microwave this morning. Still amazingly better than 99% of the other coffees out there. I will be going back to the Fruit Stand for more before I leave and, if possible, ordering more once back home. Buy their coffee!“
“We have been to Sweet Journeys for their non-dairy desserts a few times before, and clearly we enjoy those. For me, the toasted coconut flakes pack a subtle but powerful flavor punch on any of the flavors I’ve tried.Today, we tried the Journey Cafe side, and ordered the Pizza Al Taglio from the Gratitude Menu. It was WAY more flavorful than I had expected. It was sooooo good. So many complementary flavors, and a little spiciness. The accompanying hummus was also among the best I’ve ever had. It made me want to try The Journey from the same menu, but we’ll have to go back for that. Of course, we followed with some dessert from Sweet Journeys next door. Just go.“
“9th best fish tacos in the US, come and get em! They are delicious! Katie offered great service and pointed me in the right direction when I was debating what to get. There's a beautiful deck overlooking the water with 7 seats and 8-10 tables inside. The deck is a beautiful place to watch the sunset and the moon rise. There's a restroom.“
“A phenomenal find on the big island! Everything we tried here was delicious. Tons of gluten free (gf) options and some vegan ones as well. If you ask they will make you a grilled cheese on their homemade gf focaccia bread, which is so good!!If you come mid morning they’ll likely have banana bread, which was incredible warmed up. Loved their smoothies, you could make your own combo and we particularly enjoyed an OJ base with dragon fruit, mango, & strawberries. They open at 5:30 so we were able to stop here on the way to the airport, which was a treat.Everyone working here was delightful and kind, even when the line was out the door and they were swamped with orders. The baked goods felt really reasonably priced, particularly for being gf and in Hawaii (as of 2024 there were gf baked goods for under $4 a piece!).Such a gem, would return anytime & highly recommend!! They have indoor and outdoor seating, some toys and books for kids, and a fun selection of locally made items & art.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free & vegan options! The majority of their baked goods were gluten free, and their homemade gf focaccia bread was unbelievably good“
“Good pizza easy to get to with parking available. We normally go to the Black Rock Pizza in Captain Cook, and it is some of the best pizza I have found on the island. I saw that they opened up in Kailua-Kona right off Ali'i, so we gave it a try. The pizza is very good, not at all disappointing. I do favor the Captain Cook location maybe because of the ambiance and the view. I am not a big beer drinker but Captain Cook offers beer, wine and hard liquor whole currently the Kailua'Koba location does not offer alcohol. But the pizza is very good. The staff and service is great. They are on top of your need while there.“
“We joined friends for dinner here last night. We all really enjoyed the eggplant appetizer. I had the fresh catch with the lemon caper sauce. The mahi was prepared just right. They know how to do fish! There were too many good choices for dessert. We ended up splitting the mango cobbler with lilikoi sauce. It was excellent. The service was great! Our server was very patient with us-accomodating us with a table change (it was chilly last night) and gave one of our party extra veggies and re-running the bill for him when there was a small upcharge for using a charge card. There was some nice music which wasn't too loud which we appreciated. We will definately be back-so nice that Kona is getting some good restaurants that don't charge an arm and a leg. The was that the lilikoi martini which was gorgeous to look at could have used a little more kick and be a little less sweet.“
“03.17.3024 celebrated our St Patty's anniversary with the idea of eating traditional Hawaiian food. The hostess was very nice and knowledgeable. We ordered and love the Pupu with a side order of Jasmine rice with furikake and drinks of gingerade for me and kava for my hubby. The Pupu came in a beautiful dish and enough for two to share. The gentleman who delivered our food was great as he patiently explained each dish. The open outdoor eating area was wonderful. Will definitely be back to try other dishes.“
“Garlic pizza & the macadamia nut pesto cheesy bread was soooo good - I am still thinking about it. Great local vibe with awesome, friendly service. Tommy the owner is a super cool, authentic guy, he treated us right and ensured our meal met & surpassed our expectations! Don't pass this place up, it is a gem!“
“This is a great spot for a casual dinner and if you are lucky enough to get a spot outside to eat, you will have a great view of the ocean and sunset. Had the spicy pork tacos which were delicious, just wish a little spicier and the sauce it comes with on the side isn't a spicy sauce at all, reminded me more of a salad dressing so I wish I would've substituted it with a spicer version. But nonetheless the atmosphere and service was great and would definitely come back.“
