Local store just like a 7-11, located near the Hilton DoubleTree. Not cheap but convenient, sell all the usual general store stuff, along with a range of sandwiches, boiled eggs and freshly packed salads. There are chairs and tables outside to watching the world go by while having breakfast or coffee, we did not try the food, just bought some very high-priced alcohol. TIP: This is not cheaper than driving into Hilo for supplies, but if you are staying at the Hilton who cares.
The team at Uncle Billy's in the evenings is fantastic. Katie whips up an acai-mac nut-granola bowl that is out of the solar system, nevermind the world. And they're so nice. Thanks!

The little store in front of the Hilo Hawaiian hotel has half the selection and is 3 times the price, don't go there! A one minute walk will get you to Uncle Billy's, which is still more than a Walmart would be, but is much more reasonably priced. Their deli also has great sandwiches and bagels that you can have made fresh for you or are already ready in the fridge, both of which won't break the bank.
