“While visiting Hawaii Island on vacation many years ago, we encountered Hawaii Cloud Forest Coffee at Merriman's Restaurant in Waimea and liked it. When we finally decided to move here, this coffee soon became our daily drinker. It makes a wonderful pour over in a Chemex. We place an order more or less monthly and delivery via mail is always prompt. The beans are always freshly roasted as evidenced by the noticeable effervescence (bloomimg) as the entrapped carbon dioxide gas bubbles off during the pour over. The coffee trees are raised organically and grow under a canopy of Koa trees to keep them shaded and to produce an environment that sustains Hawaiian wildlife. Strongly recommended,“
“Solid place with good tasting plant milk and vegan items. No dairy products, which is great but one should be aware going in. The Service was a little confused and slow, and the place got busy right as we were leaving and it seemed to be getting backed up (midmorning on a weekday).“
“Grandma and uncle are doing it.I ate cotton candy shaped ice cream.I like the sweetness that I don't get in Japan.delicious.I hate that it comes with a straw. You understand.Paper napkins also have an American feel.Time passes very slowlyOh yeah, they gave me extra candy.I also gave them candy that I brought from Japan. He was happy.I think we could probably understand each other.“
“Wood fired pizza, wine and peroni on draught, good pasta. The calzones are interesting, never had one quite like it. Hours are for early birds, so best for lunch or a very early dinner. No live music anymore, but the stage is still there. Good place to grab a pie and a pint. You can call ahead to make a reservation for a larger party. There are not a lot of options in Honoka'a town, so we have to enjoy what we can!Wheelchair accessibility: Handicap space available out in front.“
“Our family of three had the pleasure of touring the Muana Kea Tea farm, nestled at a serene 2000 ft. elevation on the slope of the Muana Kea. We were greeted with a warm welcome by Kimberly and Naomi. We were then introduced to the adorable 7-day old Dolly the lamb, and even got to feed her a bottle of milk (Oh how I miss holding little Dolly!) The farm, with its rows of tea plants and various fruit trees, created a picturesque and tranquil setting. Our guide, Taka, shared with us a wealth of knowledge about the art of cultivating tea. The Japanese tea ceremony in a wooden tea house was a graceful finale that we thoroughly enjoyed. At the end of the tour, we had the opportunity to purchase some tea from their shop to bring home. My favorite was the Orchid Dew green tea. Meeting the owners, Taka and Kimberly, and their welcoming family, who exuded genuine hospitality, really enhanced our visit. Thank you Taka, Kimberly, and Naomi for providing such a splendid tour—undeniably one of the highlights of our trip to the Big Island of Hawaii.“
