My expectations were in the gutter considering that it’s a Hawaiian food place in Ala Moana food court. But it ended up being pretty good. Lau Lau, kalua pork, long rice, and poke are all decent. Portion sizes could be a little bigger for the price though.
Poi Bowl at AlaMoana. Food court food 👍👍
Marilynn started with the local favorite local plate. My sister in law Deb had pork guidantes, she shared and was amazing.
Me, Hamburger Steak was ono.

Ala Moana Poi Bowl is a long-standing restaurant in Ala Moana, offering traditional Hawaiian cuisine. The menu features set options with the choice of one to three side dishes. The main ingredients are familiar Hawaiian staples, which may be new to some customers. Over the years, prices have increased, and while the portions are generous, some customers feel the value is not as good as it once was.
Customers have had mixed experiences with the food quality. Some found the dishes to be fresh and flavorful, while others noted inconsistencies, with the poi and some meats appearing less than fresh. The service, however, is generally praised as friendly and attentive.
The cuisine at Ala Moana Poi Bowl is similar to Okinawan fare, with a focus on pork and salt. This bold flavor profile may be overwhelming for some, but it can provide a unique cultural experience. The individual menu choices resemble a Japanese-style bento box, offering a variety of options within a single meal.
Overall, Ala Moana Poi Bowl continues to be a popular destination for those seeking a taste of authentic Hawaiian cuisine in a convenient food court setting.
