Delicious very authentic yakitori - hard to find something like this outside Japan. And great prices. I'll be coming here in every trip to Honolulu.A little off the beaten track, but a pleasant walk along the canal from downtown.
What an incredibly delicious and low-key spot Carp Dori is! It is located in McCully Shopping Center where many Asian restaurants are located. It is towards the mountain, outside of the tourist area yet not far from Waikiki. One of Yelper's reviews gave me a good indication that this is a good spot. I called for a reservation. Good izakaya! Lively atmosphere with tons of Carps merch and memorabilia on the wall. Service is pretty fast and attentive. We tried the gyoza, fries, karaage chicken, skewer set, tempura set, and okonomiyaki. Everything was delicious. I would definitely go again, especially for the karaage and skewers. A bit pricy, but not more so than the typical izakaya in Honolulu.
