“this place is a little tucked in the back behind the other carts selling every souvenir imaginable, but was 100% worth sticking it thru and trying to find them at the end. the flavors were top notch, and the lady selling them was a delight. i got some sort of gummy cubes on mine as well as this marshmallow seeming things that were fantastic. I will shout form the roof tops that Hawaiian shave ice is leaps and bounds better than any snow cone on the mainland.“

Portions were surprisingly larger than anticipated in comparison to other ice cream and gelatos shops in honolulu. Even the small had quite a bit of gelato in it and we could have gotten one scoop of two different flavors. Instead I just ordered the strawberry yogurt but it was good so no regrets. They also give you a small wafer with each item purchased, which was cool.

“While visiting Hawaii and staying in the Ala Moana area, I decided to stop by the Yoajung ice cream store since it was close to our hotel. I was craving something sweet yet refreshing, so I decided to order the choco strawberry cup, and it did not disappoint because it was delicious and refreshing! I’d been looking forward to visiting this place for three days, and it was worth the wait. If you're exploring this part of the island, this spot is a must-visit. Just remember to plan your day around it, as they're only open from 11 am to 4 pm. You might want to skip breakfast so you can really enjoy your meal!

Easy to Find, Easy to Park

The restaurant is about a 16-minute drive from downtown Honolulu. While it's a bit tucked away, finding a parking spot is a breeze—they have a large parking lot, which is a big plus. The moment you walk in, you'll notice how incredibly clean it is. This instantly gives you peace of mind, especially since you’ll be enjoying fresh, raw ingredients.

Friendly and Helpful Service

The staff was great, and the cashier was very kind and patient with my questions. She was so dedicated to helping me that she asked her team for more details about the ingredients to make sure her answers were perfect.

The Food: Unforgettable Poke

I ordered a poke bowl for $16, which lets you choose two different types of poke. I went with the spicy ahi tuna with masago and the traditional Hawaiian poke. I also added some delicious toppings like seaweed salad, dried cod (Taegu), and pickled ginger for just $1 each—a deal that’s definitely worth it.
The portion size is huge, weighing over a pound, and the presentation was beautiful. The flavors were incredible—complex and layered. The seaweed brought a taste of the sea, the pickled ginger added a tangy kick, and the spicy tuna was perfect. The Taegu, a local dish with Korean roots, gave the bowl a savory, chewy texture that made it even better.

For a drink, I chose a local Hawaiian Sun juice. It’s a great option with natural flavors, but if you want to balance out the richness of the poke, a simple water works best.

The poke bowl here is one of the most flavorful and satisfying I've had on Oahu.

A Treat to End the Meal

I also tried the shave ice with mochi, vanilla ice cream, and condensed milk. While I found it a bit too sweet for my taste (which is pretty common for local desserts), the coconut banana flavor was amazing. The small size is big enough for two people, so consider sharing it. Even if you're not a shave ice expert, this is a great place to try it.

“Was charged once for a medium strawberry smoothie with banana added. Cashier was busy making the drink , saw the approved sign but was asked to re insert my card again. I have the receipt for Second transaction. Looked at my bank statement online and saw 2 pending transactions from the same establishment. I called in and asked the worker that there is two pending transactions and that I should give it 24hrs. Well 24 hrs went by and the first transaction that was approved went through. Tried calling the establishment but no answer. I got my refund and the cashier working was really friendly and helpful.“

“I would really never review a chain like this. BUT only 1 reason. The gentleman that worked last night Friday May 24, 2024, closing shift. Did the best job that I ever seen. Kept his composure, greeted and thanked customers. Serviced a continuous line BY HIMSELF. Which included taking orders, making orders and cashiering, AGAIN BY HIMSELF. Did an amazing job. Not only has to be his own security for safety purposes but wow he deserves a raise. Then he has to close the place alone. Thats a lot of responsibility. “Our group had a craving for pizza and we stumbled on Lewers. The person working the storefront accommodated our half/half all meat/pepperoni pizza and it was ready in about 25-30 minutes. The crust was floppy but the cheese and toppings were flavorful and not too greasy/oily. It was a pleasant find.“
