“This place has a 'je ne sais quoi' like no other.. !! the kava they served 'issa' was locally grown down the road! They also sold 'Noni' (a local fruit) shot, they are grown up the street!! These kids know how to give you an authentic Hawaiian kava experience. Pahoa is such a charming little village of a town.Aloha and Mahalo ?“

“Fresh ingredients, combined in novel ways, by someone who obviously has very fine taste. Really good beers. We had the Tapas, which were incredible, followed by the pumpkin, which may have even been better, and then the oyster mushrooms, which might have been the best. Definitely a highlight of our time in Hilo.“

“They do have "live music" between the main dinning room and bar...right in the middle and it is way too loud. Sorry, I like live music but when it is overbearing it kills the atmosphere. Our service was compromised by the noise because our poor server just couldn't hear us.“
“Nice little karaoke bar. Definitely a good spot. And bonus- I didn't feel like I'd be stabbed there at any second. Honestly, the server was super nice and was super fast with our drinks and the mic when it was our tables turn to jam.“

“A lovely dinner spot in the quietter part of time. We arrived around 5 on a Saturday and were able to get a table. By the time we left, the place was more busy. The food tasted fresh and we had zero complaints about our service. Would recommend this for a date night or a dinner out with friends.“

“Had the captain's platter and a couple of of craft beers - it was all cooked just right, some of the most tender calamari I've ever had. Better than the cruise ship food I'm going back to. Friendly, quick service. Highly recommend!“

“Great lunch deal. Yummy and filling. They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa that was so good I didn't want to stop, but my lunch came and I got carnitas tacos that were to die for!!! Staff are really nice. Great place to chill and watch a sporting event on TV, eat great food, and they got a bar!!“
“Parking: Food was excellent mine arrived a little cold but very tasty French Dip I also ordered Waioli drink too sweet w no punch Bartender made to die for Cosmopolitan The wings were meaty w good crust and had flavor not overcooked done to perfection w juices dripping down my face and had good ranch hot sauce Overall Happy Camper worth getting all wet for Delicious“

“The best part about the Hilo Town Tavern is the Exhibit Gallery, which is attached to the dining area. For 8 1/2 years the Exhibit Gallery has supported many of the artists in Hilo and has been a major cultural icon. The Exhibit Gallery supports the First Friday Art Walk and other major Hilo events. I highly recommend visiting this gallery.“
