“5 stars for the ono grinds! We arrived around 9:30A on a Thursday morning. We got lucky and snagged a couple of tables outside. Ginas is basically takeout with a few tables for dining outside. We ordered a burrito and a mini loco moco with onions and mushrooms. The burrito was filled with Spanish rice, Portuguese sausage, bacon, ham, eggs and cheese. Very tasty combo! The Loco Moco was the BOMB! The best we've had so far! We shared a slice of banana bread for dessert. So moist and full of banana flavor. I had the opportunity to meet Gina and told her how much we enjoyed breakfast. Especially the Loco Moco. We hope to make a return trip before we leave.“
“A couple of years ago I took a bottle of beer home with me to the mainland and sadly it exploded in my cellar! I messaged Thom and he said the next time I was in town, to stop by for a replacement. Well that day was today so I want to shout out Thom's great customer service and beer!“
“Glad I dropped by this spot a few minutes away from the beach. I ordered the Twin fin burger and Tsunami fries. Both packed with flavor and have island/surf themed menu items in this tiny restaurant that can seat 8 people at most. I'll definitely come back again if I get the chance! Have to add that it was a bit pricey and spent around $27 for the double patty burger and Tsunami fries. Lastly the lady wasn't really helpful when I was trying to figure out the self order kiosk. For some reason the meal options didn't match the menu on the wall.“
“This place was incredible! The food was delicious and reasonably priced for the Waikoloa area. There is a huge beer selection to choose from, which means I'll have to return soon to continue sampling them all. Location is beautiful and easy to get to. The staff was fantastic when my son fell down and scraped his knee. They gave him bandages and a toy. I can't say enough about how great this place is.“
“The food was fresh, hot, and delicious! Best small spot in Waimea- don't let the name fool you- no booze at Da Booze- just food that is so ono! Went back twice. Ladies cooking the food fresh while singing along to the music station and loving their day- it was the best kind of local experience. Excellent service, so seriously good burgers and kekahott chicken. YESSSSSS- Go here!“
“We walked into this little hole in the wall and were immediately greeted by the nicest woman excited to tell us about their daily specials. The menu is packed with delicious burgers and drinks perfect after a long hot day. I ordered the fresh fish burger, onion rings, the garlic Parmesan fries and a pink lemonade pineapple whip. The fish burger was ground ahi with fresh lettuce and a thousand island dressing. delicious mix of flavors! The garlic parm fries were the perfect loaded fries without being soggy. And the pink lemonade pineapple whip? Unbelievable. While we were eating, a gentleman started talking with us about where we're from and the island. He said he is the owner's son. Nothing is better than sitting down in a little place and enjoying delicious food made by a local family owned and operated restaurant.“
“On a crowded Monday afternoon(roughly 12pm) The hostess hustled to fill every seat in the house. She quickly kept the lines moving and offered us 2 seats at the bar. I typically don't like bar seating because I enjoy the space to eat comfortably, but the WNBA draft was on so we accepted and I'm so glad we did!We were helped by Quincy who was bartending that day. She was friendly and answered all of our questions pertaining to the menu and the daily specials.(You're in for a TREAT if they are serving the lilikoi cheesecake!) I ordered the brisket nacho house fries (also a daily special) and my wife and I split a Paniolo burger...As a burger snob, (former employee at In N Out burger) I have to say this is a top 3 on the island! (Ono Loa Grill, Johnny's burger) The nacho fries I ordered without the sour cream but, it was still loaded with flavor and was served on a boat-like tray that made sharing a breeze! Now, back to Quincy, I hope she is acknowledge for her hustle and hospitality! It was packed! But we never felt like we were ever waiting around long! It's because she wouldn't allow it! Every plate that emerged from the kitchen looked amazing and I cannot wait for my 2nd visit to The Fish and the Hog!“
