“Finally tried this hidden gem last night. Food was amazing-our waitress was fantastic and the bus boy was so friendly and kept all our used dishes cleared off table. Great food and great service. Can’t wait to go back.”

“Cute little place to stop. Takes you back in time to an old candy store with ice cream sundaes, floats & more. Lots of fun candy to look at. Places to sit inside and a bench outside. We went at the end of the day so they were out of two different ice cream flavors. We took our kids and they thought it was neat. If you are looking for “something different” or get the “we’re bored”, give this a try.

Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly as in there is lots to look at. If they struggle with touching everything, maybe not ?. The bar stools next to the ice cream freezer are high, so more for 6+ year olds without supervision.”

“I went in tonight they asked me if I was going to dine in or out so I said I was going to dine in went down to the register ordered they asked me again is this for here to go I said for here they actually packed my food to go I had to ask for a bowl and extra crackers for my chili the only reason why I'm commenting this is because I noticed that the other people that said that they were dining in they were told to have a seat I was never told that and the young lady who took my order blonde hair gray sweatshirt had selective hearing problems sorry I could not provide a name I understand teenagers need a job the least you could do is pay attention to your customer and what they are ordering thank you former special education associate Des Moines Public Schools”

“I love sister’s place for so many reasons. The staff is amazing. They always make my husband and I feel like we’re party of the sister’s place family. The food is also VERY good. Obviously it’s not Johnny’s but it’s the best bar food I’ve had. I love that they always do specials to change it up a bit. Gives me something to look forward to. “Stopped out last night to try the new food!!! It was soooo good. We could not stop eating the chips and salsa, great salsa. I got the quesabirria and it was delicious and filling. One of my kids got a basic fajita chicken and cheese quesadilla and I could not stop stealing bites 🤣 the chicken had such good flavor and wasn’t dry at all. Another one of my kiddos got the steak tacos and the steak meat was also seasoned perfectly and was not dry at all- a common issue I have with other places we’ve tried. The rice also was super flavorful and tasty. Absolutely recommend trying their food out- we were there around 4:30 and it wasn’t busy yet so it was a perfect time to go in with the kids and get dinner 😄”

“Today I stopped in with my 8th grade softball team. I think it was Taylor (one of my girls thought she read that) she was working by herself and she did absolutely amazing! She took care of all 17 girls and 2 coaches. She was very polite and calm. That many orders she handled it very well. It’s always fun to stop by after playing and get a nice cold treat! :)”

“love the atmosphere and service BUT I used to get the yogurt Parfe w granola,blueberries, strawberries at least 3 times a week for breakfast or lunch and they changed the recipe and are using strawberry sugary thick compote instead of just yummy strawberries . now I won't get it. wish they would bring back original recipe.. the chocolate mint pie is the best, love the chicken pot pie, smoothies, chocolate malts.”
