“I love sister’s place for so many reasons. The staff is amazing. They always make my husband and I feel like we’re party of the sister’s place family. The food is also VERY good. Obviously it’s not Johnny’s but it’s the best bar food I’ve had. I love that they always do specials to change it up a bit. Gives me something to look forward to. Lastly, I love all the events from live music, to trivia, to music bingo sister’s place has it all!🖤“

“We were in Des Moines for a soccer tournament and ran across you guys. I was diagnosed with celiac 3 years ago and you guys made hands down the best GF burger and tots I have had in 3 years. “A party of five of us visited on 1/8/25. We asked for a table in back as there was live music by the bar and we wanted to be able to talk together Our server was excellent - wish I had gotten her name Food was amazing - we got brussel sprouts, sliders, French fries w Parmesan, stuffed mushrooms, and spinach artichoke dip All came out timely and very good! We had martinis and all were very delicious and also came out quick I’ve been here about six times before and it’s always great Good patio area too Definitely a great place!“

“Love Truman’s! They hosted us last night for my birthday celebration and they did not disappoint. They never do! The food alone is delicious, their menu has something for everyone, plus some unique pizzas that I have tried to replicate. (Theirs was better 😉) Their service is always great too. Friendly staff, always helpful, and the dude who hosted our party of 26 last night was awesome and made sure we all had a great experience and had what we needed throughout our time there. “my daughter and I stumbled upon this neat place today. she has the classic burger with a side of fresh fruit and she loved it. I had the grinder with a side of amazing tomato bisque soup. we shared some tasty chicken loaded nachos and will definitely be making the 45 minute drive again very soon. our waitress was a lovely lady named Tatum(I cannot remember how your name is spelled,I'm so sorry). she was rocking the bar and taking orders all by herself. she constantly made sure we were doing ok. 10/10🤟“

“We were looking at somewhere to grab something to eat later in the evening and this was near our hotel. It's a great space as far as the amount of things you can do here. Arcade, bowling, watching sports, eat,... Although I actually thought there was an escape room because of the name of the place. The food was pretty basic as far as bar/ fried food. But our server was absolutely amazing and she made it an even better experience. I think it's a fairly good location and I think it's a good place to go to if you're looking for a place to relax and watch a game or go on a date, hang out with other couples, friends, families, and do some indoor activities.“

“Wow, just wow. The chicken wings were absolutely amazing. Crispy with a creamy, smoky wing sauce that gives a nice heat to your lips but won't send you running for the milk. The corn poppers were also delicious and 3 kinds of exile on tap means you'll have a decent selection of beers. Our waitress was really great despite it being very crowded. Definitely a gem of a find with dive vibes but good for gatherings. If you're looking for good wings in des moines, these are some of the best I've had.“

“I wish I would have taken more photos but the food was so good our family couldn’t think to take photos. My mom wanted to eat at HoQ Resturant for her 40th wedding anniversary and wanted the whole family with them to celebrate. Little back story my mom sells vegetables to the owner that he uses in his dishes. 90% or more of the ingredients are locally sourced in Iowa. Farm to table concept. We started withh naan bread the brought out and a little bit of I think pasta with beets. What ever it was it was goos. Then we ordered several different appetizers. Burnt carrots, Hummus and some kind of bread, chicken skewers, and pierogies. For meal we got different things. Several had the bison burger and fries, 2 had the 5 oz steak with risotto. Mom and I had the Mediterranean bowl with falafel add tandoori chicken. That is the only thing I got a photo of of course after I started to eat. The accommodated our little girls with grilled cheese and fries and a side of chicken. Finished off our meal with. Cake my sister made ( our grandma’s recipe) Minnesota chocolate cake with fudge icing. And the restaurant brought out several scoops of vanilla ice cream with shortbread cookies. All the food was so good everyone at the table was quiet including my dad. If you know my dad you know that is not a common thing for him not to be taking and eating. I have posted a photo of my food and a photo of my parents with their cake. And yes my mom is wearing her original wedding dress she wore 40 years ago when she married my dad. Thank you again HoQ for the amazing dining experience and for letting us have a private room to celebrate our parents!“

“We had pizza and chinese food, everything was fresh and the pizza toppings were cut right in front of us. The only disappointment is market grille has been replaced by wahlburgers, which was pricey for us at the time b(and I really wanted a burger initially).“

We go with our 3 young kids usually when we take a trip to Des Moines, so very kid friendly! Amazing seating as well, just love the overall vibe! Highly recommend!“

“The Continental was an unexpected stop for us today. (We were searching for Waldo at local businesses around the East Village. A little something fun for the month of July; pick up your sheet for stamps/stickers/signatures at the stores participating and enjoy shopping, dining and just wandering the East Village.) We happened to see the board advertising today's specials and decided to give it a go. Oh my gosh! I'm so glad we did!

My son and I shared the tilapia tacos. My husband had the chicken tacos. My daughter ordered the nachos, chorizo on the side and I got a side salad to share with my hubby. We all took at least one bite of each other's orders.

The nachos were delicious with the meat. Our picky eater, daughter, didn't care for them just chips and cheese. (Remember, she's picky.) My son and I preferred the tilapia tacos to the chicken, but hubby, not a fan of fish, preferred the chicken tacos. The side salad was fresh and the house vinaigrette was SO good!

If you get the chance to stop by, you definitely should!“

“We made our first ever visit to Quinton’s in Des Moines on Wednesday night and definitely give it two thumbs up! Highly recommend the Tico time draft at only three bucks for 22 ounces. We both had sandwiches and they were outstanding, and the bartender was very friendly and efficient.“

“Hi always come here when I want to go to a sports bar when I am in town. Especially since it is relatively convenient to where I normally stay at the Holiday Inn. But nothing really special to say about it, except it's got lots of televisions, and it is a regular sports bar with lots of seating, and it gets crowded when there's a game that people in Des Moines are interested in. I just wish that they had PBR on tap, or maybe the High Life“
