“Cool Basil has been a long time favorite of my wife and I. We hadn’t been there in a while when we stopped in for lunch today. The atmosphere was noticeably different. They were playing a funky smooth jazz music where every song sounded the same. I liked the previous light/classic rock mix much better. The staff seems to have completely changed since we were last in. We didn’t recognize anyone, whereas we were on a first name basis with much of the previous staff. The service was noticeably slower and less friendly. The food was still very good. I ordered my usual spice level 2 and it was very, very hot. Much hotter than it used to be. I’m just wondering if they are under new ownership or management because it is a very different experience from a year ago. I still recommend Cool Basil, it’s just not the familiar place that we loved anymore.“

They accommodated my requests and the gentlemen, two asian men, did an excellent job in taking my order and taking care of my dinner. “They were very nice, and the service was very good. We were the only ones seated in the restaurant at the time however, but the food was delicious, the vegetables were crunchy just the way I like them, not soggy like many Chinese restaurants are, and hot temperatures which was delightful, I told my husband , I wasn’t sure I’d ever had Chinese food that hot, our entree’s and our ration, actually needed to be left to cool a couple minutes. We were very happy overall and took home some of the food, very generous portions.“

“Service and food is always consistently good. The patio is a great setting and one of few restaurants in DSM that can offer this setting My only suggestion is to make sure the patio is regularly hosed down and absent of bird droppings. Great restaurant and would like to see more customers to keep this restauant strong“

“Absolutely delicious food! I traveled half an hour to get here and it was worth it. Definitely try out the mongolian beef and yuchang shrimp! The staff were also very kind and professional and even gave out complimentary egg rolls and crab ragoons for our take-out.“

“I enjoyed my Hot and Sour Soup and Hunan Beef today at China Dragon. Lately, I have been stuck in a rut eating the same takeout Asian food all of the time. I forgot how much I enjoyed having a meal at a good Asian restaurant. China Dragon is a wonderful place to remember how good that can be.“

Unfortunately, the egg roll was cooked well on the outside but undercooked on the inside and was also very oily.“
