Lady Jerk Soul Food is a pop-up restaurant in Des Moines that serves flavorful comfort food. The owner has a friendly and welcoming vibe, making diners feel at home. The portion sizes are generous, and the food tastes like it is made with love. Customers especially enjoy the jerk oxtails, which fall off the bone and melt in the mouth, and the rib tips and jerk catfish, praised for their rich flavor. The sides like yams, collards, cabbage, mac & cheese, and potato salad are all well-seasoned and satisfying. The mac & cheese is often called the best ever, and the dressing is very good. On Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., limited seating is available, making it a must-try for anyone craving home-cooked, flavorful soul food. The owner’s young son Caleb helps on the grill, adding to the restaurant’s charm. Visitors leave feeling welcomed and plan to return, often bringing friends along.
