“Had my family of 7 in last night to eat. My wife and I chose the "special" fish and chips for close to 12.00 and we each had the salad bar. After getting served our food we were extremely disappointed when what we thought would be fish and chips instead was air fried fish nuggets and a half a handful of fries. The fish was over done and pathetic. I've had better nuggets at McDonalds. As a business I would have never put a product like that out to any customer. it was so bad that I didn't even have to say a word to our waitress when cashing out our bill over over 100.00$ when she asked how the fish and chips were. She tell by my look she understood. I've never had bad service or bad food but tonight was a disappointment on the food side. I would be embarrassed as a owner.“

“I can honestly say I had the best experience there last night. I ordered the brookie they have, a spinach feta stuffed bread, and a sausage and mushroom pizza. I walked in the door, no sooner had I opened it I heard a "I'll be right with you." The worked finished up the order he was making and came right to the counter. Asked me if I was there for a pick up or if I was placing an order. I gave him my name. He was so courteous. Asked if I needed plates napkins etc. told me about the app where I could earn free food. If I could give more stars I would!If you're in the mood for pizza or wings or a sandwich I highly recommend coming here!P.s thank you for the extra Parmesan packets!

“Best pizza in the area. They do have a smaller space to dine in, but to go is a solid option. Bread plate 10/10 and the Alla Vodka is perfection. If you do get it to go, they put the fried kale in a different box so it doesn’t get soggy. Would highly recommend everyone try this pizza.“

“My daughter and I went to HJ and we're pleasantly surprised. We had stopped going bc of quality, portion size and cost. Today was a completely different experience. “I really like the product but not the store on 53rd in Davenport. Iowa. The manager assured me it would take 8-9 mins to make my order and he would bring it out to my car right outside their door. I was the only order being made at 1:12 pm. I went in at 12 mins and the manager said it would be another couple mins with no explanation and he promised to bring my order out to my car. At 22 mins I went back in and no one else had placed an order in all that time. The manager would not even come out to talk to me. He made a young man in the back come out and finally give me my order. No apology or explanation given. I will drive to another location next time.“

“While visiting my daughter place we ordered pizza from Pizza Hut. I decided to order the big New Yorker, but instead of pepperoni we decided on chicken and bacon. Man, the pizza was hot, great delivery timing, and it was delicious. Everyone agreed it tasted different than any other pizza we have ordered from there. And it was really big.“

After seeing my review, and confirming with staff what happened, Scott (owner) IMMEDIATELY called me and was as apologetic as someone could be. He took all responsibility. He offered to make it up to us the following day. We couldn’t make that happen. He left an open invitation to make it up to us. We scheduled but had to cancel because of my daughter getting Covid. Again, he reiterated his intention to make it up to us.

I’ll be honest, Scott went further than most anyone ever would have. He kept texting and kept in communication. When we had to cancel on him he kept in communication regarding my daughter’s health. He clearly means to do right and cares. Accidents happen. Nobody’s perfect. We have since and will continue to frequent Great River. It’s a great little spot.

I want to recommend this place but it’s hard.

Great location and the staff is always nice.

That said, we reserved the back room for an early (5:15) dinner for a group of 21 after a movie across the street. They had a five day notice for this party. We called our order in the morning of (pizza and pretzels) to try to make prep easier for them. We requested that the food for the kids come out first as it was my daughter’s birthday.

When we arrived, there was a single cheese pizza and pretzel sitting in the window which sat there until I asked if it was ours to take back. It was cold. It was about 20 minutes before we saw more food come out. After an hour, 40 percent of our order still had not been made so we just had them stop making food and made do with what we had. The little ones needed to get back home.

There were a couple of times when there were long gaps in getting food out so I checked on it only to be told other orders were being made while ours was put on hold.

I understand it was a Sunday and staffing was light. There was one person in the kitchen and one bartender. The place was not slammed. I think aside from our group the most people we saw there were 8 additional people.

To make matters worse, some of the food came out well over cooked.

In fairness, we have reserved the back room for gatherings with more success in the past. The food that came out hot and not overdone was good, as always.

It sucks to say but I’m just not sure I’d gamble with this one again, at least for a group of any size.“
