“My friend from Knoxville, IL told me to check out your food, especially your fabulous gyros. I was in the QC visiting from Galesburg and I stopped in for dinner with my sister. Alright, let me cut to the chase. Papa John's, what can I say? It was hot and delicious. That’s right, I said it. Normally, I’m not easily impressed by these chain pizza joints, but they nailed it. The pizza came out hot, the cheese was melted perfectly, and the crust had that just-right crispiness.

No drama, no screw-ups, just good pizza. Sometimes, that’s all you need. So, hats off to you, Papa John’s. You did it right this time. Four stars, because let’s be honest, it’s still Papa John’s. But hey, credit where credit’s due.“

“My review is biased as this is the bar most of my friends visited growing up. It is a great local bar with friendly staff and stiff drinks. The pizza is the only thing I've eaten from the kitchen and is definitely worth trying. Get yourself a "doodler" (personal sized pizza big enough for 2-3 people) to try and you'll be hooked! I would love to rate it 5 stars, but I gave it 4 stars as the interior could be upgraded, but it is a bar after all.“

“I really like the product but not the store on 53rd in Davenport. Iowa. The manager assured me it would take 8-9 mins to make my order and he would bring it out to my car right outside their door. I was the only order being made at 1:12 pm. I went in at 12 mins and the manager said it would be another couple mins with no explanation and he promised to bring my order out to my car. At 22 mins I went back in and no one else had placed an order in all that time. The manager would not even come out to talk to me. He made a young man in the back come out and finally give me my order. No apology or explanation given. I will drive to another location next time.“

“So… I grew up on Happy Joe’s Pizza. As a kid I used to climb the stairs to the viewing window and watch the employees make the pies. Then I even worked for the company in my late teens and early twenties for 5 years. Loved that stuff. I eventually became one of the people that started early and made fresh dough every day. I never got tired of it! Fast forward to the 2010s-2020s and I became very disappointed with the quality of Happy Joe’s Pizza to the point that I wouldn’t buy it anymore. And yes it is expensive. The majority of the ingredients are the same as they were 30 years ago or more but the crust was like cardboard. Yuk! Every once in a while I think “what if they went back to freshly made dough every day? Then they could charge a lot because you know you are getting the quality again.” Well today I decided I was craving a Combo Pizza (formerly garden) from Happy Joe’s. I grabbed one on my way home at lunch. At the drive up window I asked the manager if they ever considered making dough from scratch again instead of frozen. She then told me something that blew my mind… they are making the dough from scratch again! Since restructuring things after recent world events (the disease that shall remain nameless) they started making dough daily again in Milan and it is shipped to Rock Island and a couple other stores. She said "it’s as close to the old recipe as they can get." On my drive home I scarfed down the pizza and was surprised to discover it was super good! I even ate the “pizza bones”! I looked down at the small pizza box… No survivors… So excited that Rock Island Happy Joe’s is back to kicking butt again! Next time: Taco Supreme…“

“While visiting my daughter place we ordered pizza from Pizza Hut. I decided to order the big New Yorker, but instead of pepperoni we decided on chicken and bacon. Man, the pizza was hot, great delivery timing, and it was delicious. Everyone agreed it tasted different than any other pizza we have ordered from there. And it was really big.“

When the Pizza Hut staff handed me the order (carry out), they informed me that they were not happy with the pizza and asked me to wait for them to make another one. The problem seemed to be that there was a normal amount of mushrooms and not the extra I had paid for. I had not even seen the pizza at this time. I agreed to wait and they whipped out a new one with the appropriate amount of mushrooms. The attendant gave me the first pizza as compensation for the wait time. “While traveling cross country we ordered via Doordash to a hotel and called the restaurant to ask for paper plates. Usually it’s hard to get someone to answer the phone at 9:30 pm on a Tuesday….. but not only did Ian answer he was courteous, friendly, and went out of his way to make our order special. He put “a care package together” for us of everything we needed AND the food was PHENOMENAL- we highly recommend this location and the pepperoni and sausage 6 cheese thin crust…. If Ian answers the phone it’s even better!!!“

Girl who took my order on the phone was hard to understand and the people in the store weren't overly friendly, but I was happy to get my pie and get back to my hotel room and eat.
Speaking of which, I asked about delivery and was surprised that they wouldn't deliver to my hotel which was only about a 5-6 minute drive away.
