“Wow! Hands down THE best place for Chinese food is back! How do I know it’s the best, you may ask? The Des Moines Metro voted for several years in a row! I’ve followed these two ever since I met them in Cedar Falls, IA about 23 years ago! When I found out 20 years ago they were opening up a restaurant in Waukee, IA; I had to let the word out to everyone I knew! As former owners of Shanghai in Waukee (y’all know who I’m talkin’ about now), Cityview’s #1 Chinese Restaurant for several years (including an honorable mention for best Vietnamese food) at last had all the respect and accolades they’d ever dreamed of! Where else to go?…But EVERYWHERE! ? The food really is dynamite and it’s everything everybody says it is! The Mongolian Beef and Shrimp, the Governor’s Chicken, and their soups (Egg Drop and Hot and Sour) are the best they’ve ever been! Also, I love that I can order one of whatever appetizer they have! My favorites are the wings, Vietnamese egg rolls, and Crab Rangoon! Be sure to try the spicy Nuoc Mam with the egg rolls! The prices are great for people like me on a dining budget, and they are located in the well-maintained Menard’s parking lot on Hickman Ave in Clive! Super easy to find and get to! They also do quite a bit for the community! Just recently they served lunches to all of the hungry staff members at Hoover High and Meredith Middle School! They really do know how to Rok the Wok! Give’em a try, and I guarantee you it’ll “hit the spot!”Vegetarian options: Many of their dishes can be made into a vegetarian option, just by opting out on meat,Parking: You’re in a well lit, non-crowded area of a Menard’s parking lot!Kid-friendliness: Hoa will most likely strike up a conversation with you. She’s the warmest person you’ll ever know! She loves children, and brings lots of joy and attention to them!Wheelchair accessibility: It’s a nice parking lot with no potholes or crumbling concrete. And there’s always plenty of room around the truck to order!“

“I hosted my husband's 50th birthday party at the Station, and their back room was having the Nightmare on Ingersol, so they had some tables reserved for us. We ended up with more than the tables would hold, and they did an amazing job of getting to people quickly, and made the night great, from the 8 year old, to the birthday boy with some people getting food, and getting drinks to everyone. “The food was excellent. One of the best steak deburgo I’ve had. The restaurant is small, so it gets really noisy. There was also no clear communication in where to go to get on the waitlist, you can’t wait at the bar so you have to go to a small waiting room down further in the strip mall. But again no one told us where to go to wait and there was no signage.“

“Thank Ya Lord! I’ve been saved! Today a KC boy suckled on a diet of Arthur Bryant’s sauce and toothed on his brisket was truly baptized by transmogrification of BBQ. I was anointed in the spicy sauce and smoke of the Waukee ‘Kue’d. The wife and child, I mean liberated woman and collegiate young woman took pity on me and steered me to an online menu. While readying myself for the norm of mediocrity of two-hour-old carry out, I gave them my order for a Boy’s Plate Combo: a 1/2lb of brisket, 1/2lb of chicken (DON’T BELIEVE IT! AIN’T NO CHICKEN EVER TASTED LIKE THAT!!), Spicy (JUST RIGHT, NO SWEATING) Sauce, BBQ Beans, Mac’n’Cheese, Potato Bread, and PICKLES (capitalized—NOT to be confused with pickles—sorry Dave). And I ate. And then ate. Then cried a little when I started to see the bottom of the 9x13 industrial pan my order came in. (Except the sauce…some Brink’s type fellas in an armored tank followed’em down with that…). Succulent, savory, tender, juicy, FLAVORS and TEXTURES—each different and incredible filled that holiest of receptacles. I wish I could’ve posted a picture. I’m from the Show Me state after all, but alas, (poor Yorick…Remember? This is paralleling dyin’ and finding salvation? Yeah. Try to keep up here. I’m yur typical redneck, unedukated hillbilly, after all…), I ate it. And I’m planning’ on sinnin’ again (eating’ something frozen and pulled—like those companies do your leg tellin’ you it’s frozen BBQ…) just as soon as my taste buds return from Nirvana. And the wife or daughter heads north again. Give me till ‘Cued in Waukee opens again tomorrow. If I don’t die and go to Iowa. North of DEZ MOYNES. I mean heaven. Pass that Plate ‘Cued! True evangelical BBQ mana, ambrosia, and mead. I, and this part of the Midwest is saved.“

“Super cool vibes in here. It is hip hop themed with graffiti art of rappers on the wall, and they have a fire playlist of old school classics. The breakfast egg rolls were phenomenal especially with the cilantro sriracha sauce. The biscuit sandwiches were great, it was hard to choose which one I wanted, and the pancakes here are absolutely ginormous. I recommend the iced chai, it was crafted to perfection. Next time I'll have to get the mimosa flight, it looked like a good crowd pleaser for sharing. Service and wait was way faster than I thought it would be, especially for how busy they were on a Sunday morning for brunch. I could tell the staff was hustling and working well together to get people in as quickly as possible. Thank you!“

“The service was excellent food came out very quickly even though the restaurant was quite busy. Large portion sizes so come with an appetite. Our server was excellent, super friendly and attentive. My partner had the fried steak which was good, I had the fried chicken sandwich was incredible.“

“Love this place. The food is top notch and It’s reasonably priced. In an area of BBQ and Americana, this is a nice break for some variety. We got several sushi rolls as well as some noodle bowls. Just so tasty. My only critiques are the service was a little longer than expected (worth it) and most rolls were just slight variations of California rolls or had mango. So not a lot of variety, but I didn’t care as they were all so good. The owner even noticed I had an Utah area code and connected over it. Great place!“

“Drove 1.5 hours to get to this place. Mostly because I read reviews of them brewing gluten free beer. And having gluten free options to eat. Place had a nice feel to it. A fun atmosphere. Not busy when we went. The pickle tickle beer is the only GF beer. Was truly like drinking alcoholic pickle juice. So what ever you like... The rest are sours that are GF. No other beers are. We tried them all. They were so very sweet. Liked a couple but not a big fan. Had to try though because I am Celiac and was excited to have the offering them. Food...well.... A salad was suggested...but that never goes over well when I ask Payinh to eat out. But then they said they have gluten free buns... So that meant I could have Burger. Anyway..asked a few more questions and then added the bacon and brie burger. Asked about the fries and was told they were gluten free. What I had was good but no balsamic, no granny smith apple slices.... These things should have been on the burger. But the burger itself was pretty good. The Gf bun was prepay nicely and didn't fall apart right away. Fries were mushy. Didn't see the server again until the bill. Food sounded really cool but just didn't meet the hype. Nothing was really terrible but nothing great either.Dietary restrictions: Sours are GF. Very sweet. Gluten free buns.“

“We arrived at 8:40, wanting to make our first visit to Pagliai's, only to find that they closed at 9 p.m. We walked in and said, since they close in a few minutes, maybe we can get a to-go order. The pizza maker behind the counter said, "If you want to dine in, pick a table. We are happy to serve you!" We selected a table and ordered the House Special, adding black olives.We both had a tossed salad, which was very tasty and came with a warm breadstick.Then the guy who told us to come in and sit asked if we wanted some cheese bread on this house. "Um, yes, please!" It was warm and tasty, too.Now, I am a bit of an iced tea snob. I often turn my nose up when restaurants brew tea but fail to clean their machines properly. Their iced tea smelled and tasted fresh. I even told the chef that when he brought us the cheese bread. He said we break the machine down and clean all the parts every night, not just rinse it out.The pizza was fresh from the oven and crisp! Just the right amount of toppings on each bite.We were delighted and will be back! Right off the interstate, easy in and out.“

I grew up in NY where freedom as a kid meant having $1 and being old enough to walk to the corner pizzaria on your own - or having $2 so you could bribe an older sibling to go with you if you weren't old enough to go alone. The food was very good cooked perfectly! the service was perfect as well very polite and checked in frequently to be sure everything was good and we had everything we needed. I will be back and recommend to all my friends! If I had 1 complaint I guess I'd say the prices but in reality you get what you pay for all around here. It's worth it to me! “I booked a small private tour and tasting event. Richie was fantastic. The whole thing was very personal and intimate compared to most other tours of this type I’ve done. Worth every penny and I would recommend to anyone who has an interest in this kind of thing.“

“This was one of my favorite breweries I visited while in Iowa for a work trip. It's a small tasting room space but we had plenty of place to sit on a Wednesday night visit. They're also very big into the cycling community which is awesome, if I lived in the area I'd definitely make it a stopping point on my rides! They get the full stars from me because of their awesome dark beer selection. The stout family has been increasingly challenging these days as people keep perverting their beer with s'mores and pastries and other junk in their beer. Fenders had an amazing oatmeal stout and an imperial stout that I couldn't get enough of... I even got a crowler of it to take back to Wisconsin with me it was that good! Also love that they let you bring in food, so we ordered pizza from the local joint next door.“
