Shrimp Platter

“Heard about this place on the radio. I think it’s criminal I haven’t been here before. The atmosphere is like a local diner mixed with a pub and stocked with the coolest people. Everyone was really nice and the service was some of the best I’ve ever had. For the food it is important to note they partner with local farmers and let me tell you, you can tell. The beef is definitely top quality. First I started with my favorite drink and got a White Russian. Did not disappoint very well balanced. I had to try two of their burgers and even though I’m in pain from eating too much it was worth it! I tried their Coalition Burger and don’t forget the peanut butter. The egg and bacon were cooked very well. I asked for a fried egg and the cook didn’t kill it which was a breath of fresh air. I got it on the Texas toast but it does come on a brioche bun normally. I also got the potato salad which was a gamble since I don’t normally like potato salad outside of Moms’ but again exceeded my expectations. For the second burger I got the squealing gangster. The aioli sent it over the top! The combination of the aioli, beef, and Canadian bacon was delicious to say the least. I may live 30 min away but I tell you what I bringing my friends here! Have so much more I NEED to try! Do yourself a favor and stop in!!!!“

Legacy Lanes Bars • $$
901 N Birch St, Monticello

“My boys and I visited Legacy Lanes this past weekend for an NEYBP Bowling Tournament. This was one of the BEST experiences that we have had at an alley. While there were a couple of very normal lane issues, really, overall, the lanes ran and played great! When there was an issue, the owner was quick to get it fixed so that we could keep moving. The food was SO GOOD! We are so use to nasty, fried, bowling alley food and that is not what we found here. The staff was friendly, attentive, kind and overall we just really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you for a wonderful experience and God Bless you all!“

Northside Bar • $$
114 N Cedar St, Monticello

“Not the best bar I've ever been to, but the bartender was very friendly, the owner seemed friendly, they had restrooms, an ATM machine, and their prices seemed fair. I went to this place with 2 friends just to see how they would be received. The bartender was nice to them and they were treated very well. They are a good small town bar. Recommended.“

“Had a great time. Service was great. I felt for the bartender as she was solo and the crowd kept growing! Drinks made great. Alot better than previous owners... had a dj that only payed country, which was a little bummer that he wouldn't mix it up just a little. Location has been updated and cleaned. Very comfortable evening“

“Nice place for a quick bite to eat. Had the 2 pc. Cod dinner. The fish was great, and was served with a large portion of hashbrowns and some coleslaw. Also had them add cheese and onion to the hashbrowns. The food was served quickly, was nice and hot, and very good. The coleslaw was creamy, and very good. We were happy we stopped by!“

Showroom Lounge Bar • $$$
105 SW 1st St, Hopkinton

“I love this place. When in Hopkinton, the Showroom Lounge is the place to go for lunch or dinner! Friendly servers and really Good diner food is on the menu, but i rate 5 stars because i am a s***** for two things on a menu. Chicken gizzards and homemade strawberry pie!!!! This place has them both and they do not disappoint!!! I don’t care what you order on the menu. ORDER THE PIE FOR DESSERT!!!Wood paneling, friendly folks, deer head on the wall, cold domestics, gizzards, and the best dang dessert u could ask for. I really do love this place and will eat here every time i am in town!“

Deb's Sports Bar Bar • $
210 W Main St, Anamosa

“Unclear still about being refused service? Is it for living with a black man, working for the competition, substituting for pool league. My audio recorded conversation has define that discrimination covers race, religion, politics, etc...i am a 50 year old white man that helps pay the bills and enjoy good company. Please don't think that i am treated any different than any other patron.“
