Let me do some quick math for you, dear reader. Roughly 50 visits in two and a half years since I moved to Boise. That is not a customer, that is a lifestyle. At this point Percy should just keep a chair warm for me.

Here is the deal. The food is seed oil free, clean, and actually delicious, which in restaurant terms is basically a unicorn that also does your taxes. But the real MVP is the patio. My dogs come with me year round, and somewhere along the way we became those regulars. The kind everyone knows. When I rolled up with my new puppy Lucy, the whole place emptied out onto the patio to meet her like she was visiting royalty. She is, for the record.

Is it close to my house? No. Do I make the drive anyway? Every single time, and I have never once regretted it. Clean eating, dog-friendly, and a staff that treats you like family. Try everything on the menu. You will not lose.“

“The food and overall atmosphere was great for Sunday brunch, but apparently they employ a DJ to play music on Sundays during brunch which is so loud, it was extremely difficult to carry on a conversation let alone enjoy your meal. Brunch should be a relaxing atmosphere, not feeling like you are at a night club….“

The short rib melted in your mouth. It is a fusion Asian establishment so aside from sounding contradictory, it isn’t what I would consider authentic Pho. If you don’t smell like pho for a day or two, than I consider it American friendly. 🤓. It was still delicious and fresh ingredients. My wife has her staple Kao Sao (so?). Very tasty. The fresh rolls were also extremely fresh. Toffey (sp?) our hostess was awesome. She spent time with us discussing the menu and the chefs talents which we know first hand. Emily, our waitress was attentive and prompt and provided excellent service. We have never had a bad meal or service here.“

“The food is very good. We have tried pizza and salads and both were fresh and very tastey. The on-line ordering is horrible. Yesterday we placed a to go order at 3 pm and was told that it would not be ready to pick up until 7 pm, 4 hours later. That is not unusual and sometimes they stop on-line ordering several hours before closing. They either need more ovens, a better system or discontinue take out orders because on-line ordering for take out is very frustrating and annoying.“

“Made a reservation for Valentines Day while my husband and I were in town for a concert. Every place in town was booked solid for the holiday, but we got lucky and got a table last minute!
We were not disappointed one little bit. The hostess and wait staff were very friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere was laid back with romantic vibes, drinks were mixed to perfection and the food was perfection. We ordered drinks first, a dirty martini for my husband and the sage berry bliss for me. Both were mixed well, mine was sweet but not overly sweet, it was just right and paired well with the burrata appetizer. It was light and sweet with pear, brown butter crumble and honey. It was exactly what we wanted for a light appetizer. For the main course I ordered the king salmon & my husband ordered the NY strip steak. Portions were bigger than we anticipated, but not overwhelming. The flavor combinations were unexpected but delicious on both entrees. We ordered cheesecake for dessert. It was surprisingly light but decadent as well, with a chocolate ganache, strawberry sauce and fresh strawberries. We topped off the meal with a couple of cappuccinos, which were divine.
The entire meal was perfect and delicious. Our server was on point, very helpful with suggestions on entrees as well as our drinks. He never left us waiting & took very good care of us.
The ambience inside the restaurant was aesthetically pleasing with beautiful table linens as well as candles on each table which gave a nice romantic feel to the whole experience. The restaurant was full but not loud at all. It was a unique experience to have full view of the kitchen & chefs while they prepared orders as well as the bartenders while they mixed drinks for the tables.
We will definitely be making Tovalata a part of our trips whenever we travel to Boise in the future. It’s absolutely worth checking out. My husband and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for fresh and exquisitely prepared Italian cuisine!“
