“First time eating there today. I like old school breakfasts and this is exactly the type of place I enjoy. I ordered the eggs benedict on the server’s recommendation, very very good. The perfectly poached very large eggs, on shaved ham, with a crispy muffin underneath. The Hollandaise sauce was not home made but was well rendered and tasty. Mmmmm. Potatoes were also perfect.

The thing that makes a simple breakfast exceptional is the attention to detail. The right balance of eggs, meat, sauce and muffin proportions. The muffin cooked to provide a crunch, the ham shaved and grilled perfectly, properly poached eggs and the warm hollandaise in the correct proportion to the aforementioned ingredients.

Here is another important, touch. Properly cooked and grilled country potatoes. These potatoes were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside with the right seasoning. Most breakfast restaurants simply don’t get it anywhere near right. Michael D’s knows how to do it!

The other dish I was contemplating was the Irish scramble (will get that next time). I cannot resist corned beef and eggs.

I love the old school decor and location with plenty of parking and easy access from the freeway.

“I've been here now 3 times and each time is consistent! I've only ever gotten (my now hyperfixation) salmon salad and sweet potato fries! They use a separate fryer for their fries so they are gluten free- very very appreciated!!! I asked many times if they were safe and not coated in any flour and they reassured me. I'm not celiac but I am gluten sensitive and all 3x I've gone I've felt just fine after. I love the way they cook their salmon, it has a unique crisp to it almost like an air fry/broiled crisp texture and fresh greens and a great poppyseed dressing. Heated seating outside and pretty views of the downtown park.“

The meat is always perfect, and I never once have had a problem with food or service. The guy who I assume is the owner is always super nice and helpful. “The Garnet Cafe is our favorite breakfast restaurant in North Idaho. Their dishes are unique, creative, and wonderful. Try their spaghetti and eggs! I love their homemade corned beef. I do miss their old location in the house on Walnut Avenue, but they still have a charm in their interesting decor. Their waitresses are friendly and provide great service. Check it out!

It's more of a order to go kind of place where the burgers will surprise you!

I've only eaten there once because we were in a hurry and headed out of town, but I was starving from moving and it's where we stopped for gas, so I gave them a shot and the lady back there cooking whipped up our meal to go in no time and it was great!

Parking: It's a busy corner and traffic comes in and out constantly, so if there's no parking 1 minute, something opens up by the time you turn around“

“I love Le Peep so much. The best breakfast and mimosa spot in CDA! The stuffed French toast is to die for and they used to have the Mile High Philly that was AMAZING (and I am really hoping to see it back some day). Every meal is not only tasty but also colorful and beautiful. The location is breathtaking, right on the river and you can eat outside as well. While eating my delicious breakfast or lunch I have seen bald eagles flying over the river multiple times. The experience is magical and the mimosas are served cold and with the freshest orange juice! The Bloody Mary always looks so beautiful and tasty as well if you’re that kind of brunch gal!
