“This place is a sleeper that makes a great garlic chicken salad sandwich on a dutch crunch bread.
A dutch crunch bread, when baked, has a pillowy inside but the exterior is a crispy crackled crust that looks similar to the bark og a tree/log. And the crunch is second to none!!! This should be used on all sandwiches!!!
The creamy garlic chicken salad has chunks of premium white meat with a hint of garlic, followed by heat from the giardeneria. All this is wrapped up with liberal amounts of cooling shredded lettuce. And the sub sandwich was huge and price point was fairly low at under $13 for this size. Definitely going to come back and try other ones in the future.
The space is small and dark, a bit cramped and many students tend to be socializing or studying. And that makes sense since these prices are relatively less than other similar delis.“

“I ordered them from uber eats for the and it was so good I needed to leave a review… what do you mean I can order GORMET chocolate covered strawberries to my door?? Their chocolate is out of this world. Juice mixes are refreshing. The croffle thing changed my life. Insanely fresh fruit.
I will probably order from this place weekly. And when I’m broke and fat, monthly (to feed Mother Nature) at the very least. Please never close“

“just found the place last week. The nicest dang people work there. young lady made me that pistachio and Chai latte to perfection. the slider and burrito were excellent. Positive vibe and energy as soon as you hit the door. nice set up and the upstairs is really inviting. Very happy to had the privilege of finding a great place like this. “Food & coffee are very good, the ambience is neat, but service needs substantial improvement. Every time I go there, at least one staff member is in a very bad mood, which affects the overall atmosphere and experience. I can sympathize if they are unhappy with working conditions or other issues, but I still think every customer deserves a decent experience and should not be made to feel undesired just for being there. Hope you talk about this issue and try to make it better, because this place is wonderful and the food soulful, but I personally also look for a place where I feel welcome and appreciated, also in view of the prices.“

“Yesterday I took the Sourdough Breadmaking Class with Chef George at The Ancestral Oven and I just pulled an amazing loaf of bread out of my home oven 24 hours later! Chef George provided all the necessary instruction and supplies - including a lively starter - for students to start their own sourdough journey at home. The class included hands-on experience feeding the starter, as well as folding and shaping the dough. I had a great time at the class and can't wait to return to try out the breakfast and lunch menu at The Ancestral Oven Bakery and Cafe.“

“I placed an order to go. Was informed that there was a $3.00 to go charge and a gratuity would be added on the order cause it was over $100.00. After I checked the receipt, $18.35 was the gratuity. I thought it would be maybe $5.00. Very disappointed. Had I known this, I would have come into the restaurant and ate there had them provide me with service. I am a senior and that was definetly not right. I've already instructed my family not to get me gift card from Maple and Jam.“

“I’m bias because this is my neighborhood jerk but to be fair all my jerk dinners have been on point. Rice and peas are a solid base and the spice of the sauce is the best compliment. Even the mac is even decent. Don’t have to trust me - Not like I’ve ever gone anywhere.“

“Maisha Oliver at Kabob-It station inside of the U of C Hutchinson Cafe has by far the best pineapple chicken kabob & salmon kabob ever. The meal was so flavorful and delicious. The mango habanero sauce was absolutely divine. You can tell the food is made with love. I also had some salad w/ lemon zest dressing that was pretty good as well. Try it for yourself you won’t be disappointed. My lunch was phenomenal today and I will be back.“

“There is nothing not to like here and everything to love. The drinks are tea cheap and they offer some snacks at no charge. The only problem might be that they’re busy and you’d have to wait for a machine but there’s plenty of other things to keep you entertained. Especially for a slot spot.“

“To be completely honest, I thought this was a little coffee shop based on how it looked. I was working in the area and stopped by since I normally avoid big chain coffee shops like Starbucks. Little did I know, it ended up being a little gaming place haha.Nevertheless, the employee was extremely accommodating and served me coffee on the house. I felt bad for not playing, so I insisted that I'd pay for a small pizza at least. I was the only one in the morning until 3 people came in to play around 9am. Thankfully none of the slots were loud enough to be distracting and the music/lounge area was more than sufficient to sit down and get some work done. Interesting concept but everything is pretty affordable including beer so I may come back again. Only downside was that a lot of the food menu items were not available.“

“The host name Tony is a very nice young Man. His Customer Service is Excellent. He always go above and beyond to help his customers. Tony is a people person,and he is funny,meaning he keep you laughing. Whatever you ask him to do or get something he don't mind helping or getting what you need. I enjoy going to Penny's when Tony is working because he gets the job done when it comes down to his Customers. When need more people like him. I feel he deserves a raise.“
