“I’m a person that reads reviews, however, IGNORE THE BAD ONES!!!! (1) teens are working there, they weren’t overly friendly and not mean… just regular teenagers lol (2) the food tastes like the Harold’s that use to be on 87th, you can taste the seasoning on the chicken, they’re not masking unseasoned chicken with mild sauce (3) my 6 year old hates sauce and only likes lemon pepper, he got plain wings and lemon pepper… it was NOT salty at all and they added sauces on the side WITHOUT US ASKING! (4) They ask if you want coleslaw, GET IT! It’s so good and doesn’t taste old. Honestly I think the “bad” reviews are from one bad experience, people have off days as employees… also CHECK your food at any establishment before you leave DUH human error is real. Kudos to the chef that wears the white headphones lol he got down in the kitchen.“

“When heading towards Beverly for a property management home inspection, I wanted to find a local coffee joint that I could get a coffee and a snack of some sort. Afro Joe's was calling to me. Walking in, greeted warmly, the adventure began. If you haven't been, check the menu before you go because you will want to order one of each item! Since it was my first time, most certainly NOT the last, I needed a lifeline. Charmaine to the rescue. I don't know if I manifested or she read my mind , but when I asked which sandwich I should order instantly , she said the short rib! Boom! Done. Next up, a drink choice. Again I was not led astray. The option was a blueberry lavender cold brew topped with rose cold foam. As she was suggesting the option, Charmaine lifted the one she was drinking and again instantly sold. No chocolate croissant available since it was later in the morning but the chocolate morning roll was there and three for three, the order was placed. I already know that I have to come back, time and time again.Just walking in such a chill vibe , perfect music, everyone tables either working or chatting with a friend. The open kitchen invites you to see the hustle and bustle. The garage doors roll up onto the patio for warmer days and what appears to be local art work adorns the walls. When I tell you, this is absolutely no exaggeration, every item was on point! The short rib was so flavor forward eith the bite of picked onions, there was a side of diced pickles and onions too. Also a hit. The warm bun had some fruit nestled in its chocolatey tummy, flakes and moist with the richness of cocoa. And for the latte, cold, sweet and the flavors all complimented each other so well. I did opt for whole milk because, why not?!? I had one too many client emails and texts to be able to enjoy grabbing a book from the shelf but note, they even had the sharpest of colored pencils to doodle or write a note with. I have not one complaint, well, maybe one, I wish they were in my neighborhood because this would be a staple place to visit regularly! “Yesterday I took the Sourdough Breadmaking Class with Chef George at The Ancestral Oven and I just pulled an amazing loaf of bread out of my home oven 24 hours later! Chef George provided all the necessary instruction and supplies - including a lively starter - for students to start their own sourdough journey at home. The class included hands-on experience feeding the starter, as well as folding and shaping the dough. I had a great time at the class and can't wait to return to try out the breakfast and lunch menu at The Ancestral Oven Bakery and Cafe.“

“To my humbled surprise my husband threw my 40th birthday party here for me! I cannot say enough amazing things about this place and its people!! The atmosphere was rustic modern and very cozy,
; especially given the fact the party was on the 2nd floor and very warm out mid-afternoon but that AC was amazing. The staff and especially the server Sarah were by far the BEST server I’ve ever had interaction with anywhere; didn’t even have to say “a word” to her and she had “my drink of choice” ready and on refill. The food was a mix of appetizers and small plated pieces such as finger sandwiches and flatbreads but everyone has texted since letting me know how DELICIOUS the food was, thank you Voght House/Banging Gavel and Sarah and the staff for making my 40th birthday “one for the books” ❤“

“I'm my way to Midway and decided to get something to eat and I decided to go to the Best Shawerma. Let me tell you!!! I am glad that I decided to stop here. I got the combination plate. This dish is plenty for a hungry soul. The chicken is flavored perfectly, the rice is also flavored perfectly. The beef and lamb are cooked and flavored well also. Everything is seasoned, so good that I didn't need to use the three sauces that came with the meal. Everything time I fly into Midway, I am definitely making a stop when I land or when I'm going home.“
