“I visited Buttermilk Cafe for the first time today for breakfast. I am working in Carol Stream and staying at the Hamilton Suites. I decided to try Buttermilk Cafe this morning as a change from the hotel breakfast. They did not disappoint. I had the blackberry brie French toast. Oh my goodness, it was SO delicious. I added the pure maple syrup for a nominal additional charge ($1.79). But it really didn't need syrup. My server, Matilde, was attentive and very nice. I would definitely eat here again when in town.“

“Stopped here for breakfast, 1st time and I would definitely recommend it. The service was excellent and the food was great (real, fresh, hot, cooked to order)! I had the sampler with oatmeal pancakes and they were delicious!!! My other options included the chicken avocado crepe and Mediterranean omelette. The coffee was good, it came to the table in its own thermal to stay hot. I highly recommend!!“

“This place was spectacular. The food was amazing. I ordered a tuna sandwich that was absolutely delicious, they told me it was homemade, and you could definitely tell. The potatoes were incredible.
My boyfriend ordered a burrito that tasted like homemade comfort food, just like something your grandmother would make. I also really enjoyed the chicken soup; it was divine, super creamy, and full of delicious flavor.
The coffee was absolutely delicious, and the service was impeccable. Our waiter treated us with so much kindness and everything was served very quickly.“

Despite a packed parking lot both mornings, we were seated right away thanks to their fast, efficient service. “This used to be our absolute favorite spot. My friends and I would come here several times a week, and we loved the familiar faces on the staff. Sadly, things have drastically changed for the worse. ​We noticed the staff began turning over constantly, and after speaking with some of the remaining employees, we found out why: the owner is reportedly keeping 40% of the servers' tips. Under Illinois law, tips belong entirely to the staff, and an owner taking a cut is entirely illegal. ​It breaks our heart to walk away from a place we loved, but our group has decided to take our business to other local spots that actually respect and support their employees. We won't be back until management corrects this and treats their staff fairly.“

“I had made a reservation for what I thought was Water's Edge, but it turns out it was the Hyatt Lodge restaurant. Apparently, they share the same space, but Water's Edge only serves lunch. That was a bit confusing, especially since no employee was there to greet and seat us. So be aware of that. There were only two waiters, which was fine since it was not very crowded, but it took a few minutes before either of them acknowledged our presence. After that all went well. The food was delicious, waiter service was fine, and dining on the outside patio by the small lake was quite nice on a perfect weather day. A table umbrella to shade us from the sun would have been nice, though. I will definitely dine there again.“
