I of curse had to have my lemon fluff cupcake, a pastry and who could say no to an apple slice. But the true treats are the lovely and kind ladies working the counter. “I got the abuelita tres leches cake. The best tres leches cake I’ve had in the city. Flavor and texture of the slice were phenomenal. Also tried out the horchata latte which was also very delicious. Super welcoming and friendly. One of those places you know you’re coming back to before you even walk out of the door. Can’t wait to try out their original location!“

“We drove over an hour to get here, not knowing that whole cakes are only sold by pre-order. The gentle was kind enough to sell me one that was ready for an order that would be picked much later. That gave them enough time to get another prepared.

The cake was just a traditional 3 Leches cake. It was perfectly moist throughout the cake. The frosting was not too thick nor too sweet. I would have loved to try one of the others flavors.

It is a little small and expensive when compared to other bakeries. The quality and taste makes up for the added cost

“It was our first time visiting this bakery, and we absolutely loved the experience. We were helped by the owner, who treated us like VIP customers—and we noticed he gave the same warm attention to the next customer who walked in. He was patient as we asked questions, incredibly knowledgeable, and even shared the story of how the café started. It truly feels like a community-oriented space, not just a bakery.

My mom ordered the hot chocolate, and after her first sip she literally gasped and whispered, “Oh, that’s good.” I had the red velvet brownie, which was rich, decadent, and perfectly moist. I enjoyed it over two days—warm on the first day and cold straight from the fridge the next—and it was amazing both ways.

The owner clearly knows what he’s doing. We’re hoping to return soon and would definitely recommend stopping by!“

“Crumble. Great tasting cookie, horrible for you. Not a fan of the Tinley Park location. Closed Sundays n then cookies are so thick they cook funny n get hard fast. Not like other locations alot thicker of a cookie. Ends up cooking funny due to the thickness as well. Makes it not as fresh like my normal crumble. Unless they were sitting due to the new everyday flavors. Which its about time crumble. Try the pink icing cookie, love it. Be ready for a sugar rush, possibly too much. I love it but not the best for you.“

Very affordable too, esp if you bring cash to avoid the credit card fee. The curry bun, hot dog bun, coconut custard bun, egg tarts, sugar top buns like matcha crack top, are our standard orders. They make a good customizable iced coffee (e.g., can get it with no sweetener) too. We have never had anything that isn’t fresh.“

“Yesterday I took the Sourdough Breadmaking Class with Chef George at The Ancestral Oven and I just pulled an amazing loaf of bread out of my home oven 24 hours later! Chef George provided all the necessary instruction and supplies - including a lively starter - for students to start their own sourdough journey at home. The class included hands-on experience feeding the starter, as well as folding and shaping the dough. I had a great time at the class and can't wait to return to try out the breakfast and lunch menu at The Ancestral Oven Bakery and Cafe.“
