“This was a great place for authentic Mexican food. I rate restaurants not on how fancy they are but on several factors. It starts with chips and salsa, then basic items like tacos (steak/al pastor), then enchiladas. I had tacos (steak, pastor and chile relleno). All were great. Of course service and cleanliness is essential. I highly recommend this place.“

“I'm a sucker for Heritage's Happy Hour Oyster for a while so had to circle back for the restaurant week. The whole experience was giving East meets West as it covers a good range of dishes/inspired cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised with how each courses was planned out, with very balanced flavor combinations, leaving me full but not uncomfortably stuffed. My favorite we're definitely the tuna crudo, braised beef and fiancier, hopefully that make the official menu one day. Overall great experience and the downstairs speakeasy space makes it so fun to eat and catch up.“

The only two items that were less than ideal, the horrible acoustics (incredibly loud) and although it was too on my list to try, the chicken shawarma rolls were underwhelming. Even with those two items, the great service and food quality it's still worth the 5 star review. We sat upstairs, which very much appreciated, being out of the hustle and bustle of the downstairs. “Few months late! Came to Penumbra for Valentine’s Day and it was such a great choice. Ambiance set was really intimate, requested the private curtain area ahead of time and it felt like we were on our own place. Felt like a family owned place. The food and service were equally as good and on our way out an employee handed us a small rose shaped soap and thanked us for dining in. We had the bocaditos quesadilla which was the best version of a quesadilla we’ve had, shadow shrimp, a flat iron steak, and surf and turf. We ate/loved everything.“

Aside from their shrimp dishes, Frank's Shrimp House also offers a variety of other seafood options, such as scallops, fish, chicken and even FROGS LEGS! I find that the fish chips are a great accompaniment to the shrimp, and is some of the best fried fish I've ever had. Being a neighborhood establishment, Frank's Shrimp House offers great value for your money. The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are reasonable considering the quality and freshness of the seafood. In summary, Frank's Shrimp House is a local treasure that has won my heart with its exceptional shrimp and convenience.
