“My wife & I have been going to Toad's for a few years now and we're very happy with it. It's a small, family owned bar where we're treated like family. Plenty of parking and you can carry in food from any of Highwoods' many restaurants. Biker and Military friendly.“
“This is a cool spot in Highwood. Nothing really stands out as exceptional, but everything was pretty good.I got the rueban sandwich because we were there on St Patrick's Day. It was ok. The plain French fries were very average, but the truffle fries were much better. The calamari was good, but the other appetizers were not so much. The goat cheese was bland and the crab cakes were small and mushy.I had an alcohol free cocktail and it was good, but not $9 good. The cheeseburger and chicken sandwich were both loved by our dining partners. The service was pretty slow, but I'm sure they were under staffed since it was a holiday weekend.“
“What a great place!!! I just moved to the area and was looking for a down-to-earth place to have some drinks with buddies and watch the game. Bit did this place deliver!! Very friendly, great value and just an overall good experience! I highly recommend! Be cautious though--they don't serve food. Do eat before or have plans to later“
“Well... Food is OK when they decide to serve it. Drinks are cheap and pours are generous. The servers are great. This is a dive bar in a good neighborhood. If you don't want your hubcaps stolen while you enjoy your evening, this is a great spot. The reason I travel 55 miles each way to come here?....The music. This room is great acoustically and there are some exceptional bands playing for donations only. 1st Tuesday of the month is Ari Mintz and his "Vat of Chocolate" band. They are pro level musicians with day-jobs. Really top-shelf players who don't want the life of being in a traveling band. Music is jazz oriented but not strictly that. Rotating female vocalists, a horn section, a pedal steel in a jazz group? Yup!..and he's a monster. Keyboard and guitarist are both absolutely as good as they come. Ari has quite a few albums released online. Special guests abound and are all 100% worthy. 3rd Thursday is "Black Diamond Sessions". A group playing contemporary music along with some favorites. Vocalist who can sing like Janis and 2 ace guitar slingers and an other-worldly keyboardist are stellar with a very solid rhythm section keeping them honest. I've seen them a dozen or more times and never ever got the least bit tired of them or thought I could have done something better with my evening. I predict at least some of these players, if not the whole band, will become household names in the future. They're doing more and more original tunes too...and they're crazy good. Other Tuesdays? Traditional blues. You can sign the list and play. Some nights, the music is far above its pay grade. I always enjoy the Nickel.“
“Great place for live music especially in the summer when the outdoor patio is open. Lots of Grateful Dead cover bands, and other music there. It's a typical bar as far as drink selection but the main draw is the location in Highwood and the good tunes. During the winter when the patio is closed and can get awfully loud with Live rock 'n' roll music.“
“Fantastic, old school spot for a fabulous meal. I've been going here since I was a kid and nothing has changed. They have a warm and comfy dining room on one side with tables and big deep booths, and on the other side is a lively 360° oval bar with booths and tables around the perimeter, great bartenders, and you can get full meal service at the bar with a full place setting. Prices are reasonable, the food is all good / consistent, they make a wonderful hamburger on dark rye, ribs are amazing, and it's kid friendly!“
“I will absolutely be returning to this restaurant. Highly recommend it either for a date night or a fun group outing. Their drinks and margaritas were all delicious and not too sweet. The flight of Mezcal was a great experience. I love mezcal but never had tried different kinds before. The waitress was attentive and nice. The chicken poblano enchiladas were delicious, highly recommend! We also ordered the guacamole trio and ceviche appetizers which isn't pictured because we devoured them pretty quickly.“
“We came by to Moe's after hearing about an advertisement for a special brunch event, and we were floored by the wonderful people running this place! They were very friendly and inviting, and held a simple but classic brunch with mimosas and the atmosphere was kind and caring! We haven't been to it in the evening as a bar, but this brunch special is something they'd like to run monthly and we'll worth it!“
“This was a great find!!! The service was outstanding! The drinks were phenomenal. The food was seasoned well, perfect temp and large portions. My husband and I just stopped in for lunch. He ordered traditional combo fajitas and I ordered 2 steak tacos and one shrimp taco. We also ordered a side of black beans, I do not recommend the black beans. The guava margarita was soooo good. This guacamole was the best in lake county, hands down!!!!“
“My wife and I randomly discovered this place, and it didn't disappoint! We were hoping to find a chill spot to grab a drink with low-key vibes, and this was exactly the place we were looking for. They have fantastic beer, easy-going nature, and it just feels like a place you want to hang. They have an awesome array of board games which we love, and took part in. We had to cut the night short but it was a spot we could have stayed for hours. We now know exactly where to hit up next time we go to Highwood!“
