The pork fried rice was great! It was well seasoned and had a generous amount of pork in it. The portions were exactly what you expect for the price you pay. Very satisfied.“

“This is some of the best Chinese food I’ve had. From eggrolls to fried rice, the quality is great! Tastes fresh, portions are reasonable and how long it takes to receive your order is prompt. I live downtown and have visited his restaurants in Chinatown and Michigan Ave. The food is exception each and every time I go to either location. When the "coming soon" sign popped up in Highland Park, I could not have been more thrilled, considering the food at our local chinese restaurants refuse to raise the bar on their food. There is no better Szechuan restaurant in the Chicago area or beyond. The food, the staff, and the service are all exceptional and executed with perfection and passion. This has been the most anticipated opening on the northshore for a reason. Lao is simply unbeatable. I love it love it LOVE IT!!!!!“

“Didn’t get food from the Golden Kitchen in a fairly long time. Today I was impressed by the one woman show on display, cooking, packing the food, taking orders, and being as gracious as always. The food is good and the place exemplifies the family business model. I’ll go back more often to ensure that places like this stay in business.“

My family was out and I was on my own recovering from a surgery and felt like treating myself so I figured “ let’s get a bit fancy and order PF Chang”. What a huge mistake that was. The beef with Broccoli had les than 2 oz of beef for $30. I have included a comparison between Hunan Palace’s beef with vegetables vs what I received from PF. Hunan Palace blows PF away! Additional I have had very good luck requesting modifications, I like extra spicy and extra sauce, Human honored my request while PF did not. I think the pics tell all“

“Disclaimer— I’m on a hunt for the best peanut butter egg roll in Chicago— the direct descendent of Pekin House..! Thus, my review pertains to their egg roll alone.

The initial ordering phase put me off. They have a nice fancy entrance with 3 booths on the left and a register in the front. They are carry out only and don’t allow eat-in. I really had to beg to get the opportunity to eat there in an empty booth. 4:30pm. I was the only customer. A bit awkward. Egg roll delivered in a bag. Sauces in plastic. Red gooey stuff for the sweet and sour. Generic impotent mustard. After asking I was given a to-go plastic bin to eat on and a plastic fork.

The egg roll was not terrible—but also not great. I was immediately put off by both the grill marks on it as if it was put into a panini machine to warm it up rather than a deep fryer, and some sort of pickled taste… but I finished it. Definitely peanut butter and the right amount. Very little pork or shrimp. The inner mixture was too mushy for my taste! That’s what it is bothering me. I prefer to see cabbage, shrimp, bbq pork, greens. Here it was so blended that it just looked like cookie dough. There’s not much in Highland Park give it a try.“

You can tell it was prepared with care, and the quality exceeded my expectations, especially given some of the mixed reviews. “They didn’t have the meats I wanted but were adamant that it was going to be only a couple minutes. They were very friendly when talking to us so we stayed and waited. For some reason these were the two best tasting meats I’ve had at panda. We go a lot, so this is saying a lot. Might just have been the freshness from coming right off the kitchen, but it was fantastic.“

Food was awesome. We usually go to the Yu's in Schaumburg and was happy that this one holds up. (Not as good as the other location, but still really good).
