“I want to thank Tony for bringing the finest and most delicious Szechuan cuisine to the North Shore. I live downtown and have visited his restaurants in Chinatown and Michigan Ave. The food is exception each and every time I go to either location. When the "coming soon" sign popped up in Highland Park, I could not have been more thrilled, considering the food at our local chinese restaurants refuse to raise the bar on their food. There is no better Szechuan restaurant in the Chicago area or beyond. The food, the staff, and the service are all exceptional and executed with perfection and passion. This has been the most anticipated opening on the northshore for a reason. Lao is simply unbeatable. I love it love it LOVE IT!!!!!“

“Disclaimer— I’m on a hunt for the best peanut butter egg roll in Chicago— the direct descendent of Pekin House..! Thus, my review pertains to their egg roll alone.

The initial ordering phase put me off. They have a nice fancy entrance with 3 booths on the left and a register in the front. They are carry out only and don’t allow eat-in. I really had to beg to get the opportunity to eat there in an empty booth. 4:30pm. I was the only customer. A bit awkward. Egg roll delivered in a bag. Sauces in plastic. Red gooey stuff for the sweet and sour. Generic impotent mustard. After asking I was given a to-go plastic bin to eat on and a plastic fork.

The egg roll was not terrible—but also not great. I was immediately put off by both the grill marks on it as if it was put into a panini machine to warm it up rather than a deep fryer, and some sort of pickled taste… but I finished it. Definitely peanut butter and the right amount. Very little pork or shrimp. The inner mixture was too mushy for my taste! That’s what it is bothering me. I prefer to see cabbage, shrimp, bbq pork, greens. Here it was so blended that it just looked like cookie dough. There’s not much in Highland Park give it a try.“

“Fried shrimp jianbing was a delectable combination of so many textures and flavors wrapped up in a freshly griddled crepe. The textural contrast between the shatteringly crispy wonton sheet and the soft, chewy crepe was downright addictive. Every bite was flavorful: smoky, savory, slightly sweet, a little spicy, and wildly satisfying. It's the comfort of street food in one messy, glorious handful.“

“I sat in and got the birria tacos, and they were SO good. The horchata, churros, rice, and beans were delicious and tasted authentic too. I’m extremely picky when it comes to Mexican food, so I don’t say this lightly, but everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. The owner was also incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience feel really warm and comforting. You can really tell they care about the food and the people who come in.

Definitely recommend giving Taco Verde a try if you’re in Glenview. 10/10! ❤“

“Loved the food here! I went here with friends and family for the first time, very memorable! We went as a larger group of around 12 people. At first the staff told us that we would have to wait 30 minutes, but instead they decided to push a few tables together—so we could sit. It was very kind and thoughtful of them!! I absolutely loved the food, the sanji and dumplings being my absolute favorite! My least favorite dish was the chili pepper chicken, it tasted acidic and me and my friends ate the rice rather the chicken. Its personal preference though, so you might like it! The atmosphere was very nice and personally very cute in numerous ways!“

I have been eating here since before my son was born. He is 12 now we both enjoy this location for dinner, and or just the lunch specials during work hours.
My favorite is always the kung bow chicken, with potstickers.“

“The guy that answered the phone and took my order could have sounded like he was interested or at least a little bit friendly. Other than that I do have to say they're sweet and sour chicken is probably the best around. They're fried rice is also delicious. It's been a while since I was there so when I go back I'll update on the next dish that I get. All in all it's definitely good food.“

“I believed this is my second time coming to this restaurant. I just forgot to leave a review last time. This is a convenient place which close to my Dr's. Office. I love the place coz it's not that busy in comparison to H Mart and other Asian Grocery store that has a food court. Or perhaps today is day after Labor Day, that's why its quite. Plus ASSI got tons of Asian Ready hot/cold foods to go and you can eat at their food court. 🥰, Love the Spicy Noodles i ordered its just the right spice though I ordered extremely hot and spicy stuff. But all is good 😊“

“Quiet hole in the wall spot with some of the best food in the area. The owner is kind and works really hard to make quality food. A lot of Chinese American restaurants can have a sort of mass produced feel and use the same suppliers but you can tell a lot of love and pride goes into the food here.“

“Kind of expensive. Cabbage with a few drops of bacon $16.. two small spicy hotpot fish didn't taste so fresh sliced into 4 filets $50. Overall atmosphere is good and clean and plates are brought out by robots first before the server put them on the table. Overall probably would go back again but not ordering those two items.“

I am a FAN of chinese food, but no where around suburbs and chicago will you find such FRESH food! Veggies are perfectly done, meat is perfectly cooked! Sauce is amazing taste! I had their Happy Family Dish , Chicken fried rice and Khan Pau Chicken .

“This place is one of the best restaurants I've been to in the northern suburbs, it's hard to find good Sichuan style Chinese food but this place has it. I got the twice cooked chili fish was my favorite dish, the Mongolian beef had thick cuts of tender beef and seafood garlic fried rice was full of shrimp scallops mussels and fish. The menu has so much to choose from, I look forward to visiting again“

“I am not local, this is a regular go-to place for a friend, so when I visit with her, she wants to bring me. I had a Chinese Eggplant with chicken dish, flavorful and spicy. Also had some nigiri sushi, all very good. The Black Tobiko was plentiful and fresh. The Tamago and Inari, which are types of sushi that are deceptively simple seeming but really show a chef's knowledge and artistry, were excellent. I'm sure I will go again.“

I ordered a meal with spring rolls as an appetizer. they came with my meal, not before. my son ordered a chicken and rice meal, took a bitr and hated it. they refused to take it off my bill. 88$ for a meal for my sonnamd I and he didn't eat his meal. didn't offer another meal or anything. other restaurants would have made it right. theives. my left overs leaked through my bag going home. nor happy. we also felt obligated to tip even though server was rude and dint know about the 20% charge that's automatically charged“

“This is some of the best Chinese food I’ve had. From eggrolls to fried rice, the quality is great! Tastes fresh, portions are reasonable and how long it takes to receive your order is prompt. I can’t even take a picture of the food because I ate it all, it smelled so good. If you want fast, fresh and savory food, def come here! Takeout area always clean and you can see an area of kitchen same way. We have certain preferences that we do not want put into the food and we are very happy the results and the tastes. “Five stars! Our group had lunch here recently and shared some dishes, served by friendly people. The Vegetable Momo was wonderful, light and fresh. I had Nepali Khasi with a flavorful sauce. Others had Chicken Chowmein, Lamb Vindaloo, and Jhol Momo. All were full of taste and the ingredients were fresh and perfectly prepared. “This place is the best in the area! The beef is tender, the sweet and sour chicken isn't dried out, their salt and pepper shrimp is phenomenal! They have Taiwanese mai fun that are one of the best I've tried! Their egg foo young is savory and full of veggies! Beef chow fun is delicious! I can go on and on! I highly recommend ordering from here! The owner is super friendly too!“

“Craved crab rangoons, so found the closest spot. I purchased an order of crab rangoons (6), a large wonton soup, and a regular bubble tea.
This place actually surprised me with how much I loved it all! The crab rangoon filling is different than I've had before, it was so creamy and they were excellently filled. The bubble tea was delicious and a large size.
The wonton soup was the shining star that prompted me to write a review. I love this soup and always have to prepare myself for the oily feeling in my face. Not only did this soup not leave me feeling salted up, it was so tasty and fresh! The wontons were delicious and the green onion on top was crunchy.
I'll be coming back for more soup, it's worth the drive for me!“

“Over 20 years ago I started eating at their original Lincoln Park location. Today, their delicious food keeps me coming back time after time. It helps that the restaurant is staffed by the nicest people in the world. When I call for pickup they know my order (lad nar with chicken and Japanese gyoza) and they have it ready in ten minutes. Ten minutes!“

Their roast duck and roast pork was good. Their bbq pork leans more salty then sweet. It's more of a preference thing, I prefer more sweeter bbq pork. Their prices are pretty good as well.“
