“Towards the end of my road trip I stopped in here just because it looked like a dive bar. Once inside, it was confirmed. I ordered a couple of beers which were very reasonably priced. I liked the service here. The bartender with the Eastern European accent (I think her name was Melita) was very nice and made me feel welcome even though that was my first time there. If I’m ever in town again I will be back for sure. I had to include a pic of their high tech soap dispenser…lol“

“This is my absolute favorite neighborhood bar. They have Aviary style cocktails at Portage Park prices and amazing culinary fare. They have the best happy hour specials, and the staff is extremely nice and accommodating. The atmosphere wins the vibe check, and their music is always on point. Not that basic top 20 ish. I hosted my birthday party at their downstairs bar, which has a totally different cocktail menu. Our guests loved the venue and said the service was top notch. The owners are great!“

“Was there for a birthday. We were seated inside not on the patio. When the monsoon type storm hit the staff did an amazing job accommodating those that were on the patio. The city-living branch of our family thinks it's well worth the trip out here to LGP. A wonderful restaurant.“

Their bookbinder soup, I eat at least one bowl every time I go and yesterday I had two of them. We love the management and staff...they are friendly, personable and who doesn't like being remembered as a frequent patron? Their management goes from table to table and makes you feel like you're eating in their home dining area. We have family events here and have brought friends with us. Probably one of the consistently phenomenal dining my wife and I have. I'd even go there to eat even if not gambling. It's that good. Don't take my word for it, see it for yourself.“

“Absolutely adorable decor as you step into this neighborhood local joint, filled with music legend memorabilia and tv's lit with tunes from Queen. The menu is simple with each burger having its own personality. Each sandwich can be made into a chicken sandwich or a meatless veggie option as well. Had the curds and Parmesan fries on the side. Cute trivia cards to entertain you and your table guests. Was excellent quality food, and wonderfully friendly service.“

“Havent eaten here so cant comment on food (heard it is good though). If you like to play darts this is a great place to go. They sponsor a number of different teams and have a great back room dedicated to darts and a bi-weekly blind draw on Wednesdays. Everybody is friendly. Recommend checking it out! Good beer specials. “We were told about this place when my wife lamented the closure of a few good Czech restaurants (Czech plaza, and Bohemian Crystal) to a Czech lady who was trick or treating with her child in our neighborhood. She recommended this place and we've now gone numerous times.I've had the privilege of eating beef goulash in Prague over the years and this restaurant is about as close to the quality you get over in Europe you can get.The food, the service and the atmosphere are phenomenal. We will keep coming back and will bring friends and family with so they can experience the high quality food and service here.“

“Nice, very tiny place. Good beer. Seating is not the most comfortable, lots of backless bar stools and small tables. Within the location is a business where they press cremated ashes into diamonds. Fine. But then brewery stuff is stored in the dead people processing partitioned space. I don't get it.“

“They only serve lunch only during the weekdays (no dinner and no weekends). However it is the best lunch around! It's like your mom went in the kitchen and made it for you. Soups are made from scratch and they are delicious. The BLT on rye is outstanding. And if they have it, you have to try the potato salad. This is a bar with a Northwoods atmosphere that has affordable prices but there are some tables to sit at. They also have a Friday fish special.“

“Wanted to check out riverside and it's located nicely in their downtown area. Parking is pretty easy. We did like the drinks and the decor was unique. The downside was that it took such a long time to get our drinks despite there being multiple servers and Or bartenders. Also, they need to update their drink prices and include information on surcharges. It was annoying to see the bill.“

Please confirm and, if not, mention this on the gluten free menu in the barbecue section.2. Server marked our order with a gluten allergy but the tray was delivered with the meat on top of (touching) bread. Maybe the bread could be put more to the side with the sauces.3. “We were in the area and remembered that Two Chefs was down the street. We have emotional ties to this restaurant because they catered our wedding in 2011 and we were very impressed with their food. The waitress greeted us at the door and was very professional, polite, and well dressed. My husband ordered the chicken pot pie, it was very flavorful. The chicken was very tender and the crust was flaky like you would expect. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli it was so delicious and brought back memories. We will be back for sure when we are in the area again. If your in the area, I recommend giving this place a try!“

“Discovered this place while biking to catch the BNSF back to Chicago. Usually would bike past to hop on the train at Western Springs or LaGrange Road. But one day I stopped short and popped in here. Really impressed by the selection of beer, wine, and whiskey. Before the Derby, they had three different bottles of Blanton's Bourbon. I asked for a smell (it's not Jimmy John's, I know) and they obliged me without so much as a blink of the eye. Quite an impressive wine selection. They are serious about their libations and happy to share their knowledge. I really like this place. Good vibe and great drinks. Check it out. Not sure why some clown gave it two stars. “Hi guys, just wanna let you guys know the garage bar in sandwiches is a great spot to have food. The service was OK. Not the best but the food makes everything better. Unfortunately the drinks were trash. I shouldn’t say trash because that’s understatement. Needless to say, I have been to The Works Tavern a few times and it's some of the best food in Chicago, especially on the south side. Mike is a culinary expert and my last visit proved it. I legitimately had the best Philly Cheesesteak I've ever had. The steak was juicy, the bread was soft and the cheese was super cheesy (10/10).The food is always fresh, the beer is always cold and my kids love the pizza! “The Newark Nook is one of the more famous speakeasy's on Chicago's Northwest side. While it is most famous for being Milton S. Hershey's preferred watering hole when he visited Chicago for the 1893 World's Fair, it was also the scene of several gangland shootings in the 1920's, and was built on the site of a civil war battle where famed wild Buffalo hunter, Col. Michael Gallen, was killed. Today the bar is mostly known for its extensive cocktail list and secret lounge area. The food is prepared by a former James Beard award winning chef but is a bit too fancy to my taste, but everything is very nice. The Colonel Gallen Buffalo Nachos are stellar and include a commemorative plate that can be taken home.“

“Do yourself a favor and grab some friends for karaoke and Korean food at AGIT. A group of us went on a Saturday night and we had a karaoke room for 2hrs. Depending on the size of your group they may add a few chairs in so everyone can fit. Once you're in your room you can start with the karaoke session and in the corner of the TV tells you how much time you have left of your session. They also have instructions on the wall for how to use the remote to choose songs and how to use the control. You can press a button and a staff member will come and wait on you. We ordered a handful of stuff to share family style. We had the bulgogi, fried chicken, seafood pancake, tteokbokk. There was plenty of food to go around and everything I ate was enjoyable. It was so much fun being in a private room and eating delicious food. I wish they would have had plates instead of the paper boats because you can't fit much in the boat and maybe some serving untensils for the dishes. But minor things I could look past. They are located in a strip mall so there is plenty of parking avaliable.“
