“This might be my favorite business in the city. First of all, their draft menu is huge and rotates all the time. You can always find quality imported Belgian beer, but then you flip the menu over and there's loads of other unique beers. Some brewed in Chicago, some from other cities, and even some other imported stuff. I frequently find rare and unique beers here that I would have never thought to seek out. Plus, they have ciders and meade on draft.
Then, if somehow you don't see anything on draft you want, they have an entire laminated booklet full of bottled beers. Again, heavy on the Belgian stuff but plenty of other options too. They even have NA beers, gluten free, a good wine selection, and house cocktails.
All this alone is enough to bring you in, but the vibes are also immaculate. The place has a old timey, wooden everything charm and is covered in interesting branded beer signs. There's a second bar on the first floor and a third one upstairs if it's busy. There's garage door windows that they open when the weather is nice. And there's a gorgeous patio in the back. One of the rare places to eat/drink outside that's not next to a street or parking lot. I love coming here on weekdays to get work done when it's not crowded, or bringing friends to hang out on a weekend.
The food here is good too. It's not usually what draws me in, but the bread butter board or cheese board are always a nice complement to the beers.

My only complaint is that nothing here is cheap (I always end up spending $40-60/person just on beers). But it's so, so worth it.“

“I have been here / multiple times - each in different attire and different levels of “messy”.

Each time, I was greeted with a smile, respected, served delicious food and drinks and thoroughly enjoyed my experience - even enough to sit and dine in (that doesn’t happen often).

I have not had one thing on this menu I didn’t like - both drinks and food. But I came back for the wontons a few times ;)

“This is a fine neighborhood staple. I frequent Mondays when not traveling for work. Orla is generally bartender and an absolute wonderful person. Owen one of the owners I had met in the past is also great as well as the entire staff. The food is better than what you would get in a bar as they pride themselves on a grand quality with great price points. Typically not seen in many Chicago establishments.

The dog friendly patio is massive. Introducing both high top and regular tables. They have a large indoor dining area separate from the bar area. It's great for family dinners, parties and more. Get in there and get some food, a properly poured Guinness goes a long way here, I don't even think Guinness pours em like Gideon Welles does!!!“

“The sign says established in 1932, and every time I've driven by, I think I need to stop in. I finally did, and am kicking myself for wasted time. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The large bar and restaurant seating is comfortable and spacious. There is a variety of beers on tap, served in well-frosted glasses. We sat at the bar and I had one of the best burgers I've ever had, served with homemade chips. It was so good that I almost returned with another companion the next day!“

We randomly booked my wife’s birthday party here, admittedly because there was no contracted minimums and we didn’t want to be checking receipts all night, but the upstairs party space is the best. kept. secret. in all of Chicago. They just give it to you, small cleaning fee. And the space is amazing. Multiple rooms, private/amazing staff, private pool area with great second story views, dedicated speaker system. The drinks were amazing and the event concierge (Frank) will not rest until your party is the toast of the city. Food was also great! Everyone at our party said it was the best they’ve been to in a while. Secret is out. One of the best nights of our lives.“

“We reserved a table for two for an early Christmas Eve dinner, and the experience was wonderful from start to finish. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas, which made the evening feel extra special. We were quickly greeted by our server, Ashley, who was super attentive. She put in our drink order right away and brought out their complimentary soda bread, which was a great touch. We ordered the Shepherd’s pie and a wedge salad with chicken, everything was absolutely delicious, and the portions were quite large. We really enjoyed our time there and will definitely be back in the summer to enjoy their patio.“

Food was delicious and good quality(charcuterie board and carnitas tacos. again was not expecting much lol but they were both delicious). “I'm traveling for work, just landed in Chicago, went to go to the USO, and was told, as a veteran having had deployed to Iraq, that I am not allowed in the USO by some civilian. That's wild. Guy said he needed DoD id, then I pointed to where my member ID was. He said not good enough and told me I had to leave. I've gone to a lot of USO's and never been turned away as a vet.“
