“goodNESS this is a phenomenal meal. you are bombarded with delicious scents the minute you walk in, and it’s such a cozy intimate space, beautifully decorated. we had the samosas (excellent), chicken 65 (incredible), kofta makhani (divine), and the dhanteraz lamb biriyani (may have changed my life). even the garlic & onion naans were wonderful. drink-wise, i think every table had mango lassis, and this is correct. we also shared a cup of the saffron coffee, which was the creamiest & best coffee i can imagine. i’d be remiss not to mention the beautiful service we got from victoria—she was amazing and really put a lovely bow on our gorgeous meal. can’t wait to return!
Parking: roscoe parking is what it is. we found one a couple blocks away and considered ourselves supremely lucky.“

“Tried the Tava Fish Fry, Chicken 65 Biryani, and Mysore Masala Dosa. All items were quite good overall. A couple of minor points: the biryani would benefit from a saalna or gravy accompaniment, and the masala coating on the tava fish fry felt slightly thick or caked on. Otherwise, enjoyable meal.“

“I chose this restaurant because it was close to our hotel, highly rated, and within our budget. When we arrived (party of 3), the sign said “Open,” but there was no music - just an Indian drama playing quietly on the TV behind the bar. Three people stood at the counter, but it wasn’t clear if they were staff or customers. No one greeted us. The space felt cluttered and bare at the same time: six empty tables with lightly used tablecloths, a tall table with a silverware caddy and a pile of untidy napkins, and a bar strewn with boxes, papers, and menus. We stood awkwardly until I picked up what I hoped was a menu for my party to review while we waited. Eventually, two people left, and the remaining man asked, “How many?” and motioned for us to sit. He brought over two more menus and three lukewarm waters—two lightly carbonated, one tap. No other customers arrived during our visit.
We ordered chai, palak paneer, lamb curry, garlic naan, and tandoori chicken. Given the minimal service and odd atmosphere, we weren’t sure what to expect. But when the food arrived - brought out by a woman who materialized from the back and the same gentleman who had seated us - we were immediately impressed by the presentation. Plates and silverware seemed like an afterthought, as both servers retrieved them from different areas after the food was already on the table. Still, the food blew us away: rich flavors and generous portions. It may have been the best Indian food I’ve ever had. I had to ask for more water, but the attendant returned promptly with a pitcher. I thought they had forgotten my chai, but it was served after we finished eating. Then came the surprise ending: the man returned to ask for my name and number, explaining they’d send a payment link later.
If the space had more intentional ambiance — some background music, clearer service, a tidier setup—it would’ve been an easy 5-star experience. Nevertheless, I’d still highly recommend this restaurant for the food alone. It's a hidden gem in need of polish.“

“Food was delicious and our waiter (Jaden) was friendly and attentive. We had the samosas to start, the fish basant, chicken makhani (my personal fav), and the side of yellow dal. Desert of the cheesecake was great as well. Plenty of left overs between 2 people. Will definitely be back!“

“Rangoli has the best lamb vindaloo I’ve had in the city! My wife and I tried this for the first time and were really impressed. She had the chicken tikka masala and loved it.
The service was excellent and the prices were fair. Portions are quite large.
We will definitely be back.“

“Tucked away from the main street in Devon is this humble place for some fantastic North Indian cuisine. Great authentic taste !!Had both the tandoori chicken and the chicken along with garlic naan and plain parathas and everything was delicious - Everything served hot and fresh. The tandoori chicken is made after ordering so will take approx 30 mins to be served but it’s worth the wait. The only thing that stuck out as an anomaly is the chicken looks more reddish than regular meat. It could be likely due to the red chilly spice used or maybe a little bit of food coloring ( not sure ).
This not a fine dine but a regular walk in restaurant with limited seating so pls set expectations accordingly. If you are a lover of Indian cuisine, highly recommend checking this out.“

“Absolutely freakishly delicious. Mayuresh suggested Dahi Puri; little bursting bites of heaven in your mouth. Kheema roll was fantastic with yummy red chutney, perfect. And samosa chaat is like an Indian version of chilaquiles; repurposed deliciousness.
Tiny so not a TON of atmosphere but cute and I love anywhere with incense.
Fantastic late night food. Great find!
Note: It’s down the street from their wonderful sister full-service restaurant, Abba. Not a coincidence! Same owners.“

“Authentic Flavors and Warm Hospitality at Gorkha Kitchen
We had an absolutely delightful experience at Gorkha Kitchen in Chicago. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with genuine warmth by the owner, a lovely lady whose friendly nature set the tone for the entire meal.
We ordered the Chicken Kadhai, Chicken Noodles, Roti, and Masala Tea, and every single item exceeded our expectations. The Chicken Kadhai was bursting with rich spices and tender chicken, perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful, which came with a side of Rice. The Chicken Noodles were another standout—generously portioned, packed with vegetables, and just the right amount of heat. The Tandoori Roti was soft and fresh, ideal for scooping up the flavorful curry. And the Masala Tea? Comfort in a cup—aromatic, soothing, and the perfect end to a hearty meal.
One of the highlights was definitely the portion size—you get great value for your money. They take pride in both their food and their hospitality. The atmosphere was relaxed and cozy, made even better by the personal attention from the owner, who made sure we were well taken care of throughout.
We’ll definitely be returning to Gorkha Kitchen and recommending it to friends. If you’re looking for delicious Indo- Nepalese cuisine with a personal touch, this place is a must-visit.“

“Legit some of the best biryani I’ve had on Devon. Got the chicken dum biryani, chili paneer, and garlic naan—everything hit just right. Big portions too, easily fed two of us for under $40. Spot’s clean, staff is friendly, and they don’t skimp on spice. If you’re into bold flavors and real Hyderabadi vibes, this place is a gem. Definitely gonna be back.“

“Stopped by Mehrab on Devon for a South Indian fix. Ordered the Cheese Dosa and Upma. The dosa was crispy with a generous cheese filling, and the upma had a comforting, homey taste. Spent around $30 and left full. Only downside: the service was a bit slow, and the place could use a little sprucing up. Still, the food hits the spot—worth a visit if you're in the area.“

“Being an old Irishman, I wasn’t sure Indian food was an option for a family dinner. Adda Restaurant in Little Italy proved me wrong. They were kind and most helpful in choosing entrees. My family was excited and blown away with the flavors, the options, the spices and the quality of the chefs entrees. Thank you for your help and we will be sure to become regulars.“

“Rolled into Bawarchi around lunchtime with about $25 to spare and grabbed the chicken 65 and a veggie dosa combo. Food hit the spot—flavors were dope, staff was chill, though the seating area felt a bit basic and not super cozy. Portion size was solid, I even packed leftovers. Hit it for a casual lunch fix—just wish the vibe was a bit more polished. Still gonna swing back.“

“Will start off by saying the service is great, staff is super friendly and the food was prepared really fast. For the French Market the price is also great! If you're a vegetarian this place will have the most amount of options for you. That being said, food is pretty average. The flavors are pretty toned down for an Indian restaurant but I still thought it was tasty, this is most noticeable in the samosas. I also found the saag paneer really watery. I will say I am impressed with the paneer itself though.“

“Just had a lunch at Arya Bhavan and it was chef’s kiss perfect. Went with the chole bhature combo—big, fluffy bhature and spicy, hearty chole. Also had a masala chai to wash it down. Everything was vegan, gluten-free, and packed with flavor. The vibe is low-key, the staff is super friendly, and the food is fresh and satisfying. If you’re craving real-deal Indian without the dairy, this spot’s a must-try.“
