“I went to Raising Canes on Friday 11/21 to purchase dinner and the new Christmas Story plush dogs. When asked if they had the plush in stock I was told they were already sold out. Mark was at the counter and told me they were getting a shipment in tomorrow and will have them when they open at 10am. I came back today Saturday 11/22 at 1pm and Sofia greeted me as soon as I approached. I asked if they received the new plush today and if they had all 3 in stock. She stated they only had 2 styles left and the Ralphie version was already gone. Mark rushed to the front and stated he in fact put all 3 off to the side for me this morning anticipating my return today. I was certainly surprised he remembered me from yesterday and took the time to put the 3 plushies off to the side for me. I was very grateful as I have been collecting the plush dogs each Christmas season when they come out. Mark goes above and beyond for his customers. Sofia was attentive soon as customer's came in and was pleasant to deal with. This location is the closet to my home and we stop in twice a month. The service here is awesome, they are friendly, attentive, and fast.“

“We visited BZ Red Hots at Brookfield Zoo today. We had a wonderful time at the zoo and the best part in my opinion was taking a break for lunch at BZ Red Hots. Service was awesome! Ellise helped us with ordering our food and drinks at the kiosks. She was such a pleasaure with a big smile on her face. I'm sure she's one of her manager's favorite employees if not THE favorite. Jack who was working during the freezing weather conditions let me know it was only used for a wings rub but said he could try to make it as a cheese steak by mixing butter instead! “Great atomosphere cool concept like how they call out the alcohol and food orders when Ready. The pimento Mac was great flavor, as was the mashed and gravy. Very unique to have boneless breast thighs wing and leg portions battered and fried. Was very good. I just think the sauces were way to pricey at $1.45 a sauce wow even 99 cents seems a lot but would feel better lol. At least give one with the order or reduce the sauce price. But overall they need to spread this concept into more areas for sure out side like in the suburbs“

“I stopped by Pop's Italian Beef today with my usual plan of attack — the legendary ribeye steak sandwich that normally has my name written all over it. But then I saw the sign…

And suddenly my carefully crafted sandwich strategy went right out the window. Instead of the steak sandwich, I audibled and went with three of the cheeseburger specials, because at those prices it felt almost irresponsible not to participate in the celebration.

Apparently the entire population of Lyons had the exact same idea.

The place was absolutely slammed. The poor girls behind the counter — Cecilia and Celeste — were running around in circles like contestants in the Italian Beef Olympics. Orders flying, people everywhere, the grill working overtime. They were hustling nonstop and doing their best to keep the whole operation moving.

Because of the anniversary madness, I ended up waiting quite a while for my food. At one point I started wondering if I might still be standing there when they roll out the banner for their 47th anniversary.

But when the burgers finally arrived? Totally worth it. Juicy, cheesy, messy in the way a proper burger should be — the kind where you need a pile of napkins and absolutely no dignity while eating it.

So yes, the wait was real, but between the great food, the anniversary chaos, and Cecilia and Celeste working like absolute champions, it was still a memorable stop.

Pro tip: If you see an anniversary special at Pop’s… bring your patience. The reward at the end is still delicious.“
