“After today's experience at Baldarotta's Porketta & Sicilian Sausage we will never be going back. The level of unprofessionalism and discrimination exhibited by one of their owners was astonishing. To give a brief synopsis we were excited to try out their new location for lunch. We were immediately met with rudeness for no apparent reason by the woman at the counter, I later learned she was actually one of the owners. I honestly just brushed it off and didn't think too much into it at first. But that changed the moment we said we would be eating there and get time changed even more as she stepped out from the counter and said "I'm going to stick you guys in here." as she turned on the light to the extra dining room. For context there's maybe 15 tables in their main dining room and two or three of them had customers. Additionally, this was around 11:30 am and there were no customers behind us in line. The extra dining room was dirty and had food on the floor and the tables needed cleaned. The couple that had been in front of us got great customer service and the woman was very pleasant with them. It became very apparent that we were being treated differently due to the dog, who is a trained service dog being with us. We decided to ask for our money back and leave even though we love their food and have been looking forward to it. When we walked back into the main room and poorly asked if we could cancel our order and be refunded the response we received was absolutely in a harsh tone. She gave me my cash back and I said thank you. She responded by ignoring me and agreeing as if I was invisible. We walked around the building to the parking lot and I told Matt that I couldn't leave without having a conversation with her because the entire interaction just did not sit well with me. I walked back in and patiently waited for a couple at the counter to finish ordering. It should be noted the light to the other dining area we were told to go sit in was off again. Again when I approached I received a cold response after witnessing her being very pleasant with the couple in front of me. I asked if I could speak with a manager or someone in charge. That is when she informed me that it was her and she was a part owner. I asked her why she has been so rude towards us and that we felt discriminated against because of our service dog. She told me she didn't see anything stating he was a service dog. I explained ADA law does not require a service animal to be vested and that she never asked if he was or even mentioned dogs were not allowed, had she asked or said something we would have informed her he was. I would also like to note that the majority of our interaction with her Lambeau was sitting or in a down stay not causing any issues. She admitted that she did treat us differently because of the dog and said she could have handled the situation better but never actually took accountability or apologized for the entire situation. I'm sorry for the long read but I truly couldn't stay quiet about this. I hope she learned something from this interaction today and as much as I'm saddened and disappointed in the entire situation I'm honestly glad it happened to us and not someone who is not able to speak up for themselves. I truly hope they decide to do some self reflecting and learn how to be more accommodating for individuals with disabilities in the future.“

“Bunny’s Tavern never disappoints. We often visit before seeing shows at the Station Theatre, and get drinks after. The food and drinks were great as always, and the atmosphere makes it easy to settle in and stay longer than you planned…which we definitely did tonight, hanging out and playing the slots right up until close. What really stood out, though, was a moment of genuine kindness from the staff. Just before closing, a very elderly gentleman came in wearing his Illini gear, bright-eyed and bushy tailed, clearly thinking it was morning or game time, even though the game had long since ended. He sat down and asked for a cup of coffee, and the bartenders greeted him by name. When they gently told him it was nearly midnight and they didn’t have any coffee brewed. He was completely surprised. “You gotta be kidding me!!” One of the bartenders sat with him, spoke kindly and calmly, and then said she’d walk him home and help reset the clock in his apartment again. After what was clearly a long shift, seeing that level of patience and compassion was honestly beautiful. Great food, great drinks, and truly good people behind the bar. That kind of grace says everything about a place. I’ll be back, and I’ll be recommending it.“

I tried thier beef fried rice on a quest to find my favorite Chinese restaurant and now I crave thier food (something about the taste is unique and I can seem to place my finger on it or find that anywhere else) every once in a while. I drive an hour from my house just to get it when that craving hits. The customer service is also top notch, really nice and friendly people. 10/10 would recommend“

But 3 days ago, I ordered the homestyle chicken salad and the salad was mostly yellow lettuce - the chef had cut the heart of the head into the salad. It was so bitter that I could not eat it. I mentioned it to the server, who should have noticed, but didn’t. Why did the chef serve this? Still, I would recommend because the food is usually good.“

“Order from Door Dash, food was still nice and warm even on a -3 degree day! Mac N Cheese was super tasty. Chicken fingers a bit spicey for my taste but good. Chicken Gravy had LOTS of Black Pepper (too much for my liking). Sould tame it down on the Black Pepper on the Chicken and Gravy as those condiments can be added for each persons taste.“

“This little place has the country wooden exterior to match the part of town it's in, but inside is a comfortable and rich thai dining experience. They have a little couch available for waiting but nobody we saw come in had to wait - doordash or dine in guests. The dining room is small but well decorated with comfortable booths and cute lights hanging from the slanted ceiling. The most impressive thing about Bangkok Thai to me was the one woman show who ran the dining room and restaurant with care and efficiency. Whoever she has helping her in the kitchen is obviously a good match, as our food came out quickly and delicious. My big complaint is that for the spice level 1-5 they just dumped chili powder on top of my curry, and the curry with tofu had bell peppers but no other veggies, and the patio doesn't have heating setup but maybe it's still early in the season“

“Shout out to the Intermezzo Cafe staff at Krannert Center on campus today. Wonderful customer service and delicious food. Today's lunch special was a BLT and side of your choice. After a brief hesitation (I love BLTs!), I opted to order the chicken salad wrap and fruit cup. Delicious! They offer a decent variety of breakfast and lunch options with quick and friendly service. Highly recommend if you have not tried them.“

“Clean restaurant, polite and fast staff! Came toward the end of the day and got other best poke bowl I've ever had. No line and food was done within a minute or two ready to go with great free soup! Had the scallops, fish egg, spicy tuna with yellow pickles seaweed seasoning, and teriyaki and spicy mayo sauce. Fantastic food and big portion sizes!“

This was just over $10, which is a nice deal. The food was hot, fresh, and tasted excellent. The flavors were plentiful, and the portion was more than fair. I ended up taking some home. I highly recommend, and, I’ve said this about other Chinese restaurants in the area, but I truly think that this is one of, if not the best Chinese cuisine in the C-U area. Definitely will be back.“
