“Visited Sparta for the April 2024 eclipse. Found The Orchid House online three years earlier and kept in touch. Made reservations one year prior. Close to the center of town, this is an old house that was scheduled for demo, but Julia and George saved and renovated it. They live next door.A few steps lead to the front porch (use the driveway to the left and sidewalk instead of straight up the extra steps with gate). Then a two door enclosed entry opens to a hall/foyer with check in desk, parlor, dining room, kitchen, and through to another tabled room, and the back, enclosed, lovely sunshine-filled porch with tables and a booth. There is also a rear deck. An L-shaped, seventeen step staircase goes to the second floor and four unique bedrooms. Two have en-suite baths, and two share a hall bathroom (this one has a bathtub). There is no retro-fitted elevator.Bedrooms each have a television, refrigerator, fan (for those who need the extra air), chair(s), extra blanket, and places to store or hang clothes. There is access to plenty of bottled water and as many towels as you need. The upstairs hall closet holds just about anything you may have forgotten. Laundry hampers are provided for used towels.Mornings bring a made-to-order breakfast with coffee, juice, homemade bread and muffins. You can have eggs as you like them, including omelets, along with bacon, sausage links, French toast, pancakes, and probably (I do not know for sure) waffles. If you are into HGTV's wide open, brand new and shiny, you may not see the charm of this place. If you like This Old House, you will find the owners' kindness and hospitality, and the care and feeding of their guests to be exemplary.“

“10/10!! Every time I go in, the ladies are always super sweet and super helpful. I haven’t tried the food yet, but the drinks are AMAZING. I love the fact that it’s local and it’s so close to my house!“
