“I would highly recommend Orchid House in Sparta. My family needed a couple rooms for a few days and a third for a night. My parents moved to assisted living a couple years ago and now we don’t have a place to stay. Unfortunately we were in town for my father’s funeral. Julia has know my parents for a long time, even my grandfather. Knowing our situation she put up the no vacancy sign and gave us the whole house, to give us some privacy. We had family coming in from all over. We were able to spend time together to make memory boards, tell lots of stories, play games and be family. She cooked amazing food for us, provided us with ironing board and iron, pretty much anything we needed she had us covered. I enjoyed talking to her and her husband George about our love of old houses. My parents house was 160 years old and the Orchid House was built in 1880.I asked my son what he thought of the house and he said feels like grandma and grandpa’s. So if you can appreciate a small town 145 years young beautiful house complete with creaky floors and amazing wood work don’t miss staying with Julia and George.
