“A locally home-grown joint that you won't find anywhere else. Love the penguin out front. We stopped in at lunch time and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Menu is very large so right away I knew that there must be a lot of frozen and pre-made foods but took a chance and was not disappointed. Wanting something light, we went for soup and chili, some fried pickles and soft drinks. They admitted the chili wasn't home-made but it was still very tasty as was the chicken noodle soup. Pickles were OK - maybe a little over-cooked. Lastly, the place is very neat and tidy! I'd definitely stop again next time I'm in the area.“

“This is a somewhat hidden place in Highland. Unless you're a local you've probably never heard about it and how to get there. It's nearly disguised as a house since it's on a residential street which borders the business district. But either way, it's a great hidden gem. It's a great senior citizen's place, as they are open during certain hours. And in 2024, they will only accept cash - not that it's a bad thing. They do have a great menu, and some may say the food is not top quality. But the prices are very reasonable, whether you're coming here for breakfast and lunch. Service is great as well. Lots of Highland history on display too.“

“Great country diner/restaurant. Found our way to the lucky Rooster after visiting family. Hadn't been there in a while. The food was great. My wife chose a craft pizza, pictured within. I had the awesome spaghetti, great on a cold evening. The dining room was full but the waitress was efficient in taking care of us. Great evening with family and The Rooster helped make it happen. “Every so often I’ll come by for breakfast after work. Goes without saying they always have the best biscuits wether it be sausage biscuits or biscuits and gravy. Never a long wait in the drive through either. And for those it applies to, they offer a military discount which is all the more reason to regular here.“

The vibrant bartender (Gina) asked what my name was and informed me that Brewers is a cash only establishment. No problem since there’s an ATM on site and I usually carry enough to cover dinner. I very much enjoyed the cod sandwich w/fries and will surely be returning soon to try more menu items. They have great buns and I’ve heard the burger is delicious. “One of the nicer mcdonalds you'll find anywhere around. They're always speedy, food is usually fresh and correct. Inside is always clean and tidy. They do like to randomly charge for any kind of sauce packets and then stop charging, also at random. I'd mention any sauce you need when ordering unless you want to pay twice at window.“
