“Stopped by finally to try the pork steaks, unfortunately for me they sold out right before our visit (but a very good problem to have). We pivoted and tried the turkey and brisket…dee lish shush! The Mac n cheese was creamy but the potato salad…try it! We will make the trip again, 100%, to chase the famous pork steaks😉“

“I used to go here once sometimes twice a week when I lived in town while I was a traveling nurse. As someone who’s lived all over the country this is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to, and great service! Keep up the good work!! Much love from Maine!“

“It's always a good time at the Stubborn German. The staff is not only very welcoming, but genuinely enthusiastic about the beer and helps everyone to have a great experience while visiting. They also have an impressive bourbon selection. They take pride in the beer they brew and you can taste it. SGBC is a great stop on your Waterloo visit... you'll be back again and again.“

“I am updating this Review. My previous review was one star on each one after having the same sandwich completely butchered twice in one week and no, I did not ask for a refund either time. But today I decided I really wanted the sandwich. I didn't want to drive to a different town to get it so I ordered it and let me tell you I am so pleasantly surprised not only did they make it correctly, but they even gave me extra sauce and pepperoncini'a on the side and that was not necessary. It was not something that was paid for so I appreciate that 100% I don't know who it was at the window. He was kind respectful and whoever made the food obviously time and was also thoughtful about it so I am updating this review because I am pleasantly surprised with, how the service was today and unless something happens will stay the way it is. ☺️“

“We have lived in Waterloo for a long time, and never had the desire to stop at Ja Bowl. We decided on dinner on night on a whim, and ended up here. The food was your typical Chinese with a buffet type option as well. The service was ok, and the atmosphere was the typical Chinese sit down (older decor, dingy and dark). There, we tried Ja Bowl.. scratch that one off the list.“

“Had stayed away forever because, come on…Casa Romero. We were going to go back to our norm (which in all honest, had been mediocre at best the last handful of times). Of course, we couldn’t get on the parking lot, so I decided to roll the dice. I am so happy we did. This is our new home for Mexican food. The service, the food, the drinks, the cleanliness of the building, the bathrooms…the ample parking…I cannot wait to go back and enjoy the insanely good quesabirria tacos again.“

“A great place to eat if you're not in a hurry. My wife and I were on vacation when we stumbled across this place. I saw 2 employees, the owner and his son who apparently makes everything from scratch. Regardless of which entrees you order, he brought extra food like potato pancakes and pretzel bread. We left full and took a lot more with us. But it did take a while. The owner made good conversation with us for some of that time. As a history buff, I liked to look at the 150 year old building and all the interesting stuff on display.“

“We attended a wedding here. Was a beautiful building. The grand ballroom is truly a showstopper with ample space for nearly any size wedding or gathering. They offer two bars for your event. The patio space is nice but just a concrete slab. If they add features here it could be a truly next level venue. Some of the acoustics in side seemed challenging and it was hard to hear spoken words. Bathrooms are small and the stall door was broken leading to a lot of walk-ins on people. Beautiful wall of windows on each side of the venue.“

“We are full-time RVers who, while traveling around the US, are in search of the best cheeseburger and have a rating system of The Best (only 1 rated), Very Good, Good, OK, and Not Impressed. While at our home base in Southern Illinois, we were in the Columbia, IL, area and Googled “hamburger restaurants.” We saw Washy’s Pub had good burger reviews, so decided to give them a try for lunch. Washy’s has a simple bar atmosphere with about a dozen tables. We ordered their Classic burger with me having American cheese and my wife pepperjack. We also requested lettuce, pickles, and sliced onions. The handmade patties were about 10 oz (good sized), nicely seasoned, cooked to order, charbroiled, and served on a nicely-toast fresh bun. I had their skinny-style battered fries and my wife had onion rings. The burgers came out hot and were super tasty due the meat seasoning. We’re not sure what seasoning they used, but it worked! My wife’s burger was just a tiny bit better than mine due the pepperjack they use. The fries and onion rings were among the best we’ve had as well. We rated the burgers (even without a special sauce), fries, and onion rings Very Good. The service was also top notch.“
